Talking Test drive..

So i need some advice on this. Ok so i have a 04 auto G coupe and went to the aura dealership today to test drive an 04 6mt G coupe.... Wow was it a difference. I had so much fun driving that 6mt then my 04 G... he even let me lauch it lol. They want about $20,500 for my car with 25000 miles on it and the 6mt has 23-24000 miles on it for about $27,000 he told me to just pay the difference and i said HE%% no. i know i can get him down to about around 3-4 maybe even 2000 difference.... what do you guys think?

i highly doubt you will get $2000 difference, in my option, if you can get less than $5k for the differences, you should go for it. After the taxes and everything is what I meant.

I would think your car is worth more than just 20.5K and I am so sure the 6mtG wouldn't be 27K like he said. If you really want it, perhaps sale your car locally without the dealership. I think for 26k miles on 04, you would get like 25K at least...

Your not going to get 25k for your car at a dealer. You might be able to get
about 22-23k if you sell it yourself. Lets face facts people dealers have to make $$$ to stay in business. So if you want the best deal possible sell your car outright to an individual and then go looking for a new ride.

Yes,you can sell your car outright, but then if you trade it in,and work him,you won't have to pay the taxes at the end of the year for selling the car,as if you trade it in,you won't have that. I say the 5k mark is right,if you can get him down to 5 maybe even 4k,that would be a nice switch.

why is there such a big price difference, i would think that they should be pretty closely priced...i know the 04 has brembos, but even brand new there is not such a big price diffference

just curious

Try and weigh the difference between a trade and private party sale. Remember, if you trade, you only pay taxes on the difference, if I remember correctly. So assuming 8.25% tax, say you get $22K from the dealer and you got $23.5K from private party and the car 6MT costs you $27K, the tax is $1938.75 for private party and $288.75 (tax on $3500) on the trade-in, and price you get with trade in becomes ($1500 + $288.75 = $1788). So, it costs you more if you sold it private party.

Carmax was giving me $20k for my 58k miles 04 Auto Coupe.

So, yeah, you are getting a low quote.
