Blue, I think you made a great choice with your Volvo. Perfect car for lousy Chicago weather and it looks really good to me. All it needs is a set of more aggressive aftermarket wheels. I understand it has a 5 cylinder twin turbo if I'm not mistaken. I wouldn't want to drive the G Coupe all the time in lousy Chicago weather. I used to drive my 300ZX (with no VDC or traction control) in lousy Chicago weather and it really teaches you how to drive, that's for sure. One goofup and you're off the road!

Sorry but IMHO Mazda is Ford (for the most part), which makes it ... American. And the Mazda's interior can't even come close to what I'm looking for.

Also is the Mazdaspeed 6 AWD? I thought they are FWD? Maybe I'm misinformed

Yeah I know winter driving will be a pain, I still have my other winter beater that broke down a few months back (and forced me to buy the Volvo so fast). I could fix that up and drive it on really bad days I guess, that is if I keep the G.

As for the volvo it is 5cylinder turbocharged engine and it is pretty sick looking (for a Volvo at least) and as much as all my friends love it, I still think the G35 Coupe is 100000 better looking. At the end it comes to personal taste I guess I just never got sick of the Gs looks.

Its All Wheel Drive, but you got a point, I forgot Ford owned a big chunk of them. "At Ford, Quality is job 1, if your counting backwards".

As for the volvo it is 5cylinder TT and it is pretty sick looking (for a Volvo at least) and as much as all my friends love it, I still think the G35 Coupe is 100000 better looking. At the end it comes to personal taste I guess I just never got sick of the Gs looks.

Not a fan of volvo's but that is definately their hottest looking model. I love that color and the body kit. I saw one of these at an auto show last year. Thought of getting one for my wife but the whole 5 cyl turbo kinda freaked me out. I could just imagine how much repairs would cost if it was outta warranty.

Yeah i had the same conern, but I got mine certified, which means that on top of its 4year/50000 mile warranty it comes with an extended 6years/100,000 so I'm pretty much covered for quite some time.

You are right

I guess I got the word twin from the twin intercoolers, it is funny how little I know about the car I just bought Anyway I'm a girl "lack of car knowledge" is my prerogative. Anyway here is some info about the engine:

"The S60 R is fitted with Volvo's most powerful five-cylinder engine. Volvo's 2.5-liter in-line turbocharged power plant produces 300 horsepower and 295 ft. lbs. of torque between 1,950 and 5,250 rpm. Power output per liter of cylinder displacement places it among market leaders for performance efficiency. The engine reaches maximum torque at 1,950 rpm, thanks to a larger cylinder bore and a turbo from KKK, with a maximum charging pressure of about 1 bar. The high charging pressure significantly raises the temperature of the intake air, so the S60 R is fitted with twin intercoolers. The engine is equipped with Dual Wide Range CVVT continuously variable valve timing, on both the intake and exhaust camshafts. CVVT adjusts the valve opening times to suit the engine speed and load, lowering fuel consumption and reducing emissions, while increasing performance. The emission standards of the R engine satisfy American LEV requirements. To withstand the increased stress, pistons and connecting rods are heavily reinforced and cylinder head cooling is enhanced. The oil sump is designed to safeguard oil supply to the engine under extreme G-forces. "

here is the whole article for anyone who wants to read more about it:

I say keep it man..How much do you owe? If you dont owe anything or very little just keep it..start a car collection. I have 85K on my 2003 and havnt had any problems yet (knock on wood). Yes the value will go down when the new one comes out, but so what? It happens to every car not just the G. You will miss it when you sell it...keep it.

In the thread she mentioned that she cannot afford to keep 2 cars. So starting a car collection is highly unlikely.

Volvo is also owned by Ford under their PAG portfolio.

Hehe I knew someone would bring that up
Yes that is true, but it is a smaller % that they own, and at least the S60 is all Volvo, the S40 I know shares some stuff with a Mazda 3.

Volvo is a very good company and yours is the nicest one by a long shot. Congrats on your purchase. Good luck with everything else baby. You will make the right decision no matter what you choose so don't loose sleep over it!
