"Check Engine Soon" Amber light - PLEASE HELP

Ok I have a 2006 Coupe and an AEM intake came with the car and was installed by the dealer for the previous owner.

I read all about hydrolocking etc and it made me nervous and that is why I bought a stock air box from a local member that is in transit now.

The AEM intake tube stretches all the way down to the lower front left grille and it actually sits right there at the bottom, right behind the grille. Therefore there is easy access for water to spray in there.

I notice whenever I go for a touchless car wash, afterwards, the car seems to hesitate and "buck" when accelerating. This goes away after awhile.

Today I went for a car wash and it was doing it more frequent than usual
and when i reached my destination I let the car sit there for maybe 2 hrs and then, when I drove it after, there is a "Check Engine Soon" amber light on all the time as well as the hesitating behaviour still occurs.

Is it possible that maybe there is water or worse yet, soap suds etc in my engine motor?

Check the air filter to see if its wet. If so, dry it or get a new filter. U should get the AEM water shield that absorbs the water if the filter gets submerged under water.

I would just disconnect the battery overnite and see if the check engine lite returns. GL

Thanks for the quick response.

Even if i disconnect the battery and then the check engine light turns off in the morning, what if the car is still hesitating and bucking? Would there be any damage?

My car is going to be parked on an incline nose facing down overnight. Hopefully this will help. What about putting a blow drying to the intake through the grille?

Do you think it is a matter of the water drying out and then everything will be fine?

u could have an air leak so check to see if there's any hissing or change the intake.

Well i took it into the dealer this morning and on the way there, it stopped the hesitating and bucking motions.

They said that maybe a little water got up in there. But there is nuthing wrong and they reset the code.

Thanks for responding and with your suggestions

that is exactly why i turn my car off when i run my car through the wash. also, your intake can not really suck in water unless you have it completely submerged under water. even if it's half soaked it will take in air before water (this is common sense) think of a straw if u poke a hole in it where it's not in the water and try to suck it in all you get is air and no liquid. even if a little water were to get thru the filter into the tube i think it runs hot enough that it would evaporate.

I have had the unfortunate luck of hydrolocking a motor in my c5. I had a Halltech race air intake kit on my car for about 2yrs. I was always real careful
not to drive in heavy rains. WEll one day I got caught in a spring deluge about
5 miles from my friggin house. I went thru maybe 6" of water, bent all my valves. I ended up getting a Z06 motor though thru ins. I paid ded & another 1500 and all was good. But it still sucked literally all the way around.
Nothing worse than ruining a perfectly good motor. Especially for what maybe 5hp in these cars. Not worth the risk imo. At least my Halltech gave me about 15hp.

Thanks for the further input. I read this afterwards last night as well. Someone else used that same anology as well. Makes perfect sense. I just don't know where the water seeped in from them if not by the intake.

In terms of the intake etc, I got that installed by the dealer for the previous owner. I purchased it from them like that. There is little to NO GAIN with intakes for our vehicles and it really just offers sound from what i read.

I purchased a stock box from a local member and it is in transit.
