Short race a 350z 2nite.
Re: 540ia vs G35ca
The best magazine time for the 540iM Sport is 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. I don't remember what the 540iA time is, but it has to be a few tenths slower than the manual, which makes it a few ticks slower than the G35c, at least on paper. The G35c will definitely outhandle the 540i.

I thought my G35c was a bit slow too during break in. Then as soon as i was done breaking her in, I gunned it. My neck still hurts to this day

I just crossed the 5K mile mark on my 6MT coupe. Since I'd changed the oil at 1300 miles, shortly after breakin, I changed for the second time at about 4800 a couple of weeks ago. It's very subjective since I have no measured data to back it up, but the "seat of the pants" factor tells me the car is decidedly quicker and smoother than before, especially since the oil change. If I had to guess I'd say it's 2-3 tenths faster to 60 than just after breakin (which was the first time I redlined it to 60).
It makes me think of the two road tests Car & Driver did on the 6MT, one of which did 0-60 in 5.5 and the other in 6.0. I'd be willing to bet the 5.5 car was fully broken in and the 6.0 one wasn't.
The fact that breakin gas mileage tends to be so much worse (mine went from 17 MPG when new to 24-26 now) also points to major performance changes inside the engine. It seems plausible to me that increased piston ring sealing efficiency after breakin could cause both effects.
