I drove my car in the rain for the last two days. Always have my VDC on and keep extra space between these cars around me. It's typical caution when the weather is wet or foggy, it doesn't matter you have a $60K car or $600 car!!
Glad you were o.k, dont be afraid to drive under the rain again, it could be a pleasure fun next time...good condition to test your tires and your wipers too! hehe

I don't know why people here are suggesting to turn VDC off in "Rain or Snow". If this happened to you on dry pavement with VDC off, you would be in even bigger trouble. YOU should keep VDC on ALL THE TIME until you learn how to control your car.

I thought we all or most of us where smart enough to know how to drive a car in all different conditions.
young and dumb, um NO. I 25, and yes I do know how to drive my car. It was my first time driving in the rain, and it just so happened it was the first day of very light rain in a while. so the oil comes up and isn't washed away. I figure I just hit a spot of oil sitting on top of the street.

and I've been driving since I was 14 so its not like I've never drivin in the rain.

You have developed a habit to turn off the VDC???

I'm glad you're getting a thrashing from everyone, some people need that to stop making these mistakes.

you've been driving 11 yrs and never drove in the rain before? Buy a sportbike i know mine would see a lot more action with no rain time.

So you know that once rain starts the oil layers up until it can be washed away, but you still didn't think you might want to drive a little more cautiously? Either way you are alive and kicking and that's all that matters.

Anyhow i intentionally took my car out in the rain in parking lot and gunned it to feel the spin, did it around turns, done it in the snow. Controled goofin up will teach you about the car

what's wrong with a habit of turning it off vdc?

I'm pretty sure he's not the only one with a habit of turning off the vdc... I'm almost positive most 6mt drivers turn it off when they get into the car.

give him a break he's just sharing his story

^^ true.. when it first begins to rain, the oil and stuff on the road doesnt mix well with the water which causes the roads to be most slippery when it starts to rain the first time. i think i thats what my drivers ed teacher said

I guess it depends on location. Up here in the Northeast, you usually have the VDC on since its not nice year round like it is in Cali.

yea i agree with everyone up on here. when driving in the rain, especially with our G's we have to drive as if we would be driving in snow.

I drove in the snow last week in Cleveland, Ohio, but that was in a altima. and I was scared as shyt. I was driving slower then everyone else. I guess the rain, vdc off, and me not being able to drive the g for a week and half( I was having withdrawl) screwed me up.
