It did really happen.
I live in Chicago, G35s are here and there, and nothing spectacular to be honest but it depends where you go, in the particular area that I live in it's very diverse so what may appeal to others, it may not be so for others as well.
Same with your area.
It's all about preference.

my best compliment is when I stopped at red light, there was a lady behind me in a suv shouting at me "hey hey that's a really sexy car...!" n then she waved at me. Haha n sum other Gs driver I met said "I would trade my car with urs anyday, I love that color!" haha.

My best compliment...

Pulling up to the gas station after they cops just shoo'd all the ricers off. Getting out of my car, one of the cops walk up and says "That's a nice car, wish I had one".

Oh, and just today the trash man complimented it as he came by when I was washing it. Not as cool as the cops.

Picked my car up in NJ, drove it about 150 miles home to NY, went to an auto-parts store to buy a few essentials for it before headed home.

*Guy is ringing me up* I say "oh, shoot, I forgot my wallet in the car...sorry" I say to the customers in line behind me, "let me run out and grab it while you finish scanning this stuff...it's just been one of those days"

*Girl working at the auto parts store* "your day can't be that bad if you drove up in that Infinity" *as all the customers look out the window

Lol. LITERALLY the first person to compliment the car was the FIRST time I got out of it, not counting the one test-drive

I've gotten the usual compliments, but I must admit a nice one came on valentine's day. I circled the area around the restaurant my gf and I were going to several times, and couldn't find parking for the life of me, and if I could it was way toooo far (it was freezing and starting to rain). I knew the restaurant had a small lot right out front with a valet (expensive restaurant). I pulled up to see a full sign, and as I begin to back out in despair, the head valet runs up to me and says "hey, nice car!! If you want I'll move this thing (a pilot standing in the front row, between two porsches) and put it in the back and you can back in here even though the lot is full, and it'll be $5 flat cuz I'll let you park it yourself and keep the keys like I'm sure you want to!" So I got a prime spot between two porsches looking out right in to the street!

not too many comments here...the occasional "thats a sweet car" but for the most part there are wayyyyy to many G's here on O-town. i see 5 or 6 G's everyday in my 3 mile commute to and from work. now if i had this bad boy back in pa where i'm from then i'm sure it would get mad compliments. i guess i'm around people who are too used to seeing ferrari, mazarrati, lambo, bentley, etc.

Im in Pa and Ive gotten 2 compliments from random people in the 5 months Ive had the car. Theres plenty of Maserati's, Bentley's and Ferrari's in my area. Depends where your from in PA tho I like around the Villanova Bryn mawr area which is pretty wealthy.

Since I debaged the car and have a "different" exhaust setup, I usually get asked if it's the new model. People are starting to look at my car since the work has been done and it's been dropped.

I pulled up to older woman in an IS-F. She was definitely a MILF. So she looked at my wheels and then looked at me and I gave a nod back. She was surprised that I was young and then she smiled. I tried to keep up but that things hauls ***. She was racing up the hills where I live. She didn't verbally give a compliment, but dam, I felt great!!
