That and all those fake plastic parts that looks like metal with rivets that has the Z emblem on it. There is just so much plastic with metal looks on it in the Z.

I love the Z, but the rear end (triangular tails) needs work. G35's rear end is much better.

ok, you lot are going to love this....i thought you were all clued up on skyline 350gt's over there in the states (how wrong)
first of all i own both a 350Zed (2005) in kuros, and a 2005 skyline 350gt

the differences between these cars are vast: period.

the only common parts are 3/4 of the engine/brakes, and "some chassis components"

but the other skylines (R32/33/34) also share the brakes etc.
every part of the interior is different
suspension is totally different
every body panel is different
half of the chassis is different (try swaping exhaust bits...)
the list goes on.

so i dont see the connection (apart from the vq engine)

also...wait for it...they DO do a 4 wheel drive skyline 350gt coupe in japan (we have them here with a 2.5ltr engine)
bin out in japan for 4 years. did you lot honistly not know that?
i might sound stroppy, but i thought you would know your stuff stateside

david.

Thanks Dave. I knew about the 2.5 liter but I didn't know it was AWD. That would be closer to a Skyline in the sense of the name. But, Damn 2.5 liter thats so SLOW on a 3400 lbs + or - body. So I guess we do have Skylines after all, just stripped down bare bones versions.

1. no boost
2. no Awd
3. no 4 wheel steering on older models
4. oh well

ive yet to determine the point of this thread other than to discuss things that, if you had any interest in your car, you should already know..

i agree, i was just defending the skyline/G35

i dont think its a "fat/long 350z"

i think its an evolved skyline, as someone who has had 3 R33 skylines,
1 2.5 RB25 GTS
1 2.5 NON TURBO 4 DOOR
1 2.6 RB26 GT-R

i think the "G" is a worthy successer to the stable, she is very different being more "euro" frendly, but no more of an animal, just a different delivery.

dont diss your cars...be proud of ther lineage.

Since when is Skyline supposed to equal turbocharged and AWD? The 350GT/G35 is every bit in line with Skylines of the past. Don't confuse the generic Skyline name with the potent GT-R variant. The two are very different machines, just as the Mitsubishi Lancer and the Lancer-based Evolution are in completely different classes.

The V35 Coupe looks better than either the R34 or Z33 if you ask me.
Performance is close to the lighter Z, albeit without the blind spots and useless storage area.
The GT-R was a $50k+ rig new, at least in Japan.
The current Skyline coupe is the first looker of the bunch, though the R32 GT-R was pretty sweet.

Well you sir just made my night I guess you would know what is worthy of Skyline badging & what is not. I have never had the pleasure of driving any Skyline other than the G35/V35/350GT. Glad you chimed in.

Yep,same here dave, the 2.5ltr version I did not know about or that it was awd. I should've searched more, but it's good to know. I'm glad you said something, because no offense. I can't stand the Z. It does it's job,it's a sports car and shares the engine, but as a few have said in different posts for those taller folks,it's like riding in a box.

If anyone has a link to some info and details on the 2.5 AWD G35 could they post it?
I'm a bit skeptical on it without proof.
