should I keep Hood dampeners

eveyone, I am about ready to put on a stillen C/F hood and I currently have C/F wrapped hood dampeners, I was thinking that they would put more stress on the latch cause they are pushing up on the hood when it is closed,
I am not at the momemt planning on adding hood pins so my questions is
should I keep the hood dampeners with the lighter carbon fiber hood or not?

what do you guys think on thi, would it be safe to keep these with the carbon fiber hood

I prob will try to put them on when I change the hood out just to check it out
but I wanted some opinions first

Thanks for any input

Tony

It probably wont work.

On my Integra, I bought a set of NRG hood dampers to use on my VIS CF hood. As soon as I started to pull down on the hood to shut it, I heard the CF start to crack. Those things are way too stiff for a CF hood.

Gave them to my friend and he went ahead and installed them on his CF hood, against my recommendations.

Sure enough, tried to close his hood and cracked it.

So, try it if you want. Just pull down on it gently, if you start to hear any cracking or if the hood bends as you pull down then just take the things off.

Thanks for the info Carma

Yea I have been thinking about this alot and also thought that after awhile they may even start to warp the hood even if it doesn't crack it

I will prob be selling these on here after the weekend, when I take them off

Thanks Again

Im no expert on CF parts, but the general consensus is if you EVER do a single mile at highway speeds, the pins are an absolute must for safety...

Hi ya Clean, when I purchased my dampers from Tein I believe they said not
to use with C/F hoods........even with my OEM hood they make a noise I
don't like. The idea is good and I enjoy not using that damn factory prop!

Hmm.. alright.. well I paid $118 plus shipping came out to like $147.00 - anyone feel like giving me $145 money order or paypal with fees just give me like $152.00 so I break even? If not I will just keep them and only use them for shows because my G is mostly show, not DD.
