Question G35 Coupe Auto Trans

I have a coupe that displays a strange behavior and I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing it or knows what is causing it.
Once in a while, after sitting overnight, I back out of the garage and then put it in D and the transmission hesitates to engage for up to 3-4 seconds. Then it engages and doesn't repeat this event sometimes for days or more commonly for months. Both the garage and the driveway are on level ground and I back out into a stree that is also level.
Any help with this will be appreciated.
