It's good to know that someone has hit the 100k mark and just need opinions on maintenance. With all the things we complain about the G, i'm pretty sure we wonder if ours can even hit the 100k.

Mine hit 100k not too long ago..very sad but I did buy it with higher milage. Not that I am experiencing now (I am worried though), what do those with the oil consuming engines do when their car is out of warranty? Out of pocket?

I just replace my clutch/flywheel btw - but I did beat on it

I meant to ask, what's the life of the timing chains in these engines? This is my first car with a timing chain and i'm not too familiar with them. Anyone here ever had a timing chain break on them? All my previous cars were belts and i've changed them around 100k.

Same here, although I would think the chains last longer. I will look into it.

chains stretch and will need to be replaced. this is why belts are sometimes preferred over chains.

however some chains are built twice as thick and this makes them last the life of the engine. (im not a mechanic cant explain well)

ppp

p.s. even if i kept the car... my going rate of miles it would take 33 years.
and the price of gas in 33 years will be HUGE... so no it would never see 200k
