Oil stabilizer- MAF/Fuel System cleaning

I just cleaned the MAF and throttle body on my 04' sport coupe 6mt... and added Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer with the new oil change. I also added a bottle of complete fuel system additive.... what a difference!!... no more hesitation or 'lag' on acceleration. was wondering, are there any other quick things like this that help bring performance back to normal? Thx

Oil consumption/Oil stabilizer

I have an 04' sport coupe 6mt with 40k on it.... I have been on this site since the day I bought it, and have become well aware of all the problems with the G... primarily the oil consumption issues in 03-06' models. I change my oil ever 2-3k miles... with straight synthetic... and have noticed that Im consuming approx 1/2 qt ever 1k... which i guess is considered "normal" for spritied driving (higher rpm... higher vacuum suction)

I just started using Lucas Synthetic oil stabilizer with every oil change (1qt per 4qt oil).... and add approx 1/4 qt of lucas every 1k miles between changes... and I have noticed: an increase in oil pressure, less oil consumption that usual, and smoother drivability overall. Im sure many of you do this, but to anyone who is consuming oil... this is a great way to stretch the life of your motor out.

Must be a design flaw with the piston rings.... a buddy of mine with an 06' sport coupe has the oil light come on ever 1k miles... which is really bad. He burns more oil than any car I have ever seen... and its got a total of 10k miles on it.... whats up with that?

I don't see myself spending extra money and disguising the issue when Infiniti is addressing this problem and replaces the oil consuming engines. I rather get the new engine than continue to feed the engine some stuff in order to hide/minimize the problem. Unless for some reason you don't have warranty. G/L either way.

Obviously 'Infiniti' thinks 1/2qt every 1k miles is considered 'normal' or I would already have another motor... simple solutions are for the simple minded

Oh ok, I was under impression you didn't go to the dealer. Anyway, the strange thing with my g35c is my dipstick showed oil to the fullest before they determined I was missing 2qts. Now with the new engine my dispstick shows oil level at the very minimum, so I'm wondering what will Infiniti determine now next time I'll go for an oil change.

I did it @ 40k... I was noticing hestitation on acceleration (non-linear feel).. and poor gas mileage. I also figured that the oil from the K&N might have gummed up the MAF. I plan on repeating this procedure ever 3k miles going forward...

that lucas oil stabilizer foams up btw...cleaning the maf is good, using the lucas stuff is bad...check out bob the oil guy's web site...also why not just run a synthetic oil like castrol 0w-30 or royal purple

I use 5w-30 Royal Purple every oil change..... Lucas stuff is bad?? how so? if it does foam up, what adverse effects would it have on the motor? I have never seen Lucas oil stabilizer foam up on any car that I have used it in...

If you use a good synthetic, you shouldn't need a oil additive. Although I do use BG products like the MOA on occasion. Did you disconnect the battery when you cleaned the tb?

I agree with using Castrol 0w30 instead of the Lucas oil. The VQ engine loves this oil.

Not the TB, the battery. I read a thread here somewhere where it was suggested that you disconnect the battery before cleaning the TB.

I disconnected the stock airbox where the filter sits, & at the z utbe... and sprayed the maf from both sides... Im sure most would tell you to pull the actual sensor out and clean it that way... but this method worked well for me
