Ok, I got my K&N in blue "looks sweet"... got my Hyper grounding kit in blue "tucked away and not to in your face"... I got some blue paint "closest I could match to the K&N CAI... Now my question... on the engine cover, should I paint the outside area which is black to match the blue? or the inside area which is grey to match the blue?... I am thinking the inside area personally "grey to blue", to have the black as a contrast between the engine cover and the CAI... Thoughts?
Thanks

Were you able to take the Infiniti emblem off?. Or did you just tape it off?

DoingOK, where are you at? How long did that take you do? Is the car driveable without the engine cover? If so, can I send you my cover and would you do that to mine? Can we work something out here?

This was one of the first mods I did to my car.....way back when. I can't see any reason you couldn't drive your car with the cover off.....it seems mostly cosmetic. I just bought a $4 can of automotive paint that seemed to match the color of my car as close as possible. I used wide masking tape and an exacto to "mask the area" and removed the infiniti emblem. It is held on with doublesided sticky tape. I masked around the red "3.5" etc so it would stay that color. A couple of quick coats and voila'. I didn't use "high temp" engine paint....there were no colors close to CB and so far after six months, all is well.
BlackBuzzard: I think it would be a relatively easy project for you. But, I wouldn't mine doing it for you.

Well I just finished taping everything, and got the emblem off. Put the 1st coat of primer on and waiting to do the 2nd coat now. Wife is kinda peeved that I am painting it in the kitchen, but I can't paint outside and risk getting some dirt or dust on the finish. I'm kinda picky that way..... But I tell ya what, the fumes in here are mighty strong right now ..... hehe....

Whooooaaaaaaawowowowow.....(cough) (cough)...Gotta love my wife for putting up with me, this smell is even killing me right about now. Thankfully I live in Arizona so I got windows and doors open to vent some of the fumes out. Just finished the 2nd coat of paint, one more coat and I can let it sit overnight before I do the clear coat. It is looking pretty tight so far. This is a easy cosmetic mod, and pretty cheap to do as well. I will post pics when I get it all put together, but it wont be until Thursday probably.
