Yeah..haha. But then he got some ridiculous quote to fix a TWO INCH DENT and a new tail light for $1,100. I laughed...then cried. ha What a pain in the ***.

The door closes fine but i don't want to risk messing the paint up on the inside of the door there. Should I try to malet it out a little myself? Or would that be a big mistake..aka messing it up more

Dont do it yourself. The door is metal so when you bend it out the paint will crack all over, and the actual metal will never be back to the same shape it was in.

The G35 is a nice car dude, dont go cheap on it to fix a problem like this.

Get an estimate from a shop..then decide if you want to claim
it. you also have your friends car to consider?

Maybe the shop can work with you on that deductible

I too had a similar situation.. cost me ( insurance co) 1750.00 repaired door but the rear quarter as well as the door had to be prepped and painted... when it was done it looked better tha new..... one small thing to ask about when you get the work done. On the inside lip of the door make sure that it too is buffed out, when I picked mine up I looked it over and was happy until I closed the door,I could feel the gritty paint on the inside seam of the door..
I know it sound like nit picking but as we all know it in the details that count!!
Good Luck.... let us know how you made out !

I did the same thing to my Mazda many years ago.
It's not that bad but keep in mind that the door may need to be aligned (check the hinges) since the door took the whole weight of your car, which could have bent it out of shape.

ok so i did a lot of investigating this morning. The door itself is absolutely fine. Hinges are straight, the door shuts fine and the window pops up that small amount just fine once the door is shut too. I decided to mess around a little bit (against all advice) and see if i could bend the dent out a little myself so i can avoid scratching the paint on the inside every time i close the door. I know it sounds stupid, but i figured when it gets fixed they need to reshape it anyway. I took a 6 inch piece of a 2x4 and put a sock over it, then wrapped it in a towel. I put it firmly against the inside of the bended metal and gave firm taps to the back of the wood with a mini-hammer. About 5 minutes later and adjusting the wood to different parts of the bend, I realized I had actually made really good progress. I was successfully able to bend it back out somewhat. I'll post pictures tomorrow. The door now shuts without any of the bent metal hitting the inside. Now it is just slightly warped metal with one HELL of a mess of chipped paint. Maybe this will lessen the money to reshape it? We'll see. If anyone knows of good shops in Jersey, or has any experience with this..let me know! Thanks for the responses

i think it would be cheap if you find a local non-franchise guy to do it. it shouldnt be too expensive, just need to set it back in place, and paint it over again.

buy another door skin and get it painted, simple as that. anything over 600 would be ridiculous.
