Lease - Maintenance done at dealer?

Quick question.

If I'm on a lease, does my maintenance have to be done at a dealer?

currently the dealer wants to charge me 1k for replacing rear brakes, rear tires and doing some other minor things.

I am pretty sure you don't have to do any maintenance at the dealer.
I am leasing and now for 3 years and have done all my oil changes out my local shop. Warranty issues of course is all done at the dealer. I have an 04 so my brakes where covered under the warranty. How long have you had your car?
$1K seems a bit steep IMO.

I would check your local shop and get a quote on oem parts.
