Need for speed on the Verrazano Narrows Bridge

I took the G into the city (NYC) today, to hang out. On my way through the Verrazano Narrows bridge, I noticed there were NO cars in front of me. I decided to have some fun, as I don't get many such opportunities around this area. Let me tell you, it was an awesome feeling going on the upper level of the bridge at about 90 MPH. There is also a slope, going up, and it felt like the car was ready to take off. I hope there are no police cameras on the bridge. Otherwise, I will get a nice ticket. Or, they will make a movie out of it, and enjoy it during their breaks . Sorry for the story, but I was wondering if others have experienced the same.

No offense or anything, but speeding on any suspension bridge like that is incredibly stupid. A wind gust not only can move your car, but also the bridge, which can mess with the direction your car is pointed in. Not to mention, it can be a very difficult and wet landing if something happened.

zorro,
i will let others comment on safeness, though last night there wasn't much wind and that bridge does feel awfully secure.

it's a wide open road at times. i once got a ticket coming back to jersey. fortunately, i got out of it a year later.

today is a g day for me. almost trashed it yesterday. had it out earlier. then going to a friends house and i made the turkey. bird was in roaster, then in box. but so was the juice and drippings. at last second, i said i'll take the sentra. as i went to put the bird in car, some drippings spilled onto back seat (fortunately i had sheet there cuz i'm dog sitting).

needless to say, i re-wrapped bird but would trust it in G.

You are right Studly, there was almost no wind. A little common sense also helps . I was in full control of the G, at all times. Not sure what Balzac is refering to with his name calling.

The Verrazano is a nice bridge to drive across and the winds are almost never an issue. I used to speed on it all the time going to SI then one day going to work I saw a yellow Viper doing 80-90.... well when I finally got to the toll plaza he was standing outside the car talking with Port Authority Police.

How were the pothole infested NYC streets on the G?
