Like the light in the fridge thing....

 

light in the fridge definitely turns off. not sure about navi

 

Push the button and it pops up then reminds you not to set a course while driving...that is start upso a direct question is yes it turns off however I'm sure the gps is still functioning because the compass is still functioning. I would guess that the dvd turns off at that point too.

 

Nope it doesn't i tested it with destination set.

 

I can hear it "beep" as its turning on even when the monitor is down...so my guess is that it doesn't.

 

I don't think it turns off either because sometimes I can hear it reading the disc at the rare times when I actually have the GPS screen down.

I honestly see almost no reason to drive with it down though, unless you think it's a distraction to your driving... or if you're in love with that lovely clock that hides behind it on the '03 and '04 Coupes.

 

The screen turns off, but the nav computer keeps working on mine.

 

pretty sure it turns off. if u set a destination and turn it off. the destination stays in memory.. because it would be a biotch to re-set a destinatnion if u typed it in.

i know, cause i turn off the car. when i turn the car back on, it continued with my destination. now if the Navi is ON even though the car is off, we have some issues here.

 

my lcd screen turns off after a few seconds because i'll push the button to let it come back up and for a split second it will be black and then the screen fire back up. the computer doesnt shut off though because I, too can hear the beeping and the destination stuff
