What's better for trade in value?
I don't think your going to get any more cash out of a trade either way. So I say try to sell the 17's since you can prob get more outta them in the marketplace than the oem 18's. Dealers aren't going to give you more money on a trade just because you have some aftermarket rims. They are more interested in miles and vehicle condition. They may knock off $200-250 if the tires are really bald but you'll more than make that up by selling your other rims outright.
Keep the ones you would get more money for. Either way you will make no money on rims on your trade in car. Quite honestly they usually won't give a rats *** what you have on their unless it's some 6k set of rims, which isn't unheard of here. Even then I would keep the 6k set and sell those out. Goodluck.

The reason I ask, is that on MOST dealer lots, OEM is worth more than aftermarket....no matter what. Yes, the tread matters a little; but tires wear, that's a given. The fact of the matter is, as close as the car is to having OEM parts when trading in, the better. And this is not just coming out of the mouth of someone who is acting like they know what they're talking about. My wife works at the dealer we got our G from. When it was traded in, it had bald tires, but it was on OEM wheels. They didn't even deduct from what they were giving the guy for it. They just "made mention" of it when they were offering their price to him, so it didn't seem like they were low-balling as much.

Honestly tires don't matter that much either, I use to work at tire store down the street from an audi/porsche/vw dealer. They did so much business with them we were practically giving them the tires. Prices weren't disclosed to me,but how many they bought wouldn't be supprised if they weren't much over what we paid to get them. The best part, was I was the one who got to work on the porsches haha, and testfly them before they went back...someday...someday.
