We're a family of four, kids 9 and 2 1/2. The car I was driving prior to yesterday (picked up my G) was just not mechanically sound enough to trust the family in. I just couldn't see getting another car that I couldn't pack every one inside. We'll still use the Pathfinder for most trips but if you look close you might glimps a child seat in the rear as I fly by in my G. You should have heard my son today squeeling with delight, "daddy car fast", "faster daddy, yeahhh!". Then of course the lovely responsible wife, "that's fast enough honey". I didn't even test drive the Z so as not to be tempted.

Being an avid shooter, I couldn't have purchased the Z. I actually bought the car based on the ability to load my guns in the trunk and to not have a 40 lbs ammo can crack open my skull if I stopped short and it came out of the trunk in the Z.
Both the trunk and backseat have been indispensible since I bought it. Adults under 5'11 can fit in the rear and leg room is abundant for them. I love this car!

Our G35 coupe does look better than the 350Z, which to me is a disappointment in terms of styling. I still love the 300ZX much better.
The back seat of our coupe should be useful for any average size female & kids.

I was close to buying a 350Z, but was bugged about the strut tower brace. You can't even slide a medium sized bag underneath. I don't take my G35 out for long trips...just short trips to Las Vegas. The space in the G35 was great for me and my girlfriend when we stayed a week in Las Vegas carrying 2 medium sized luggage.

We have found the coupe to be very comfortable for 3 adults for long trips ( the backseat passenger sprawled lengthwise), for 4 people if the 2 in the rear are SHORT, and for 4 people of any size if the trip is SHORT
Interestingly, we always seem to make "good time" !
Hugely powerful yet with a liquid cat-like elegance. The car has it too.

IIRC, there's another advantage to having a 2+2 setup: Insurance rates. Two seaters are usually more expensive to insure than 4 seaters. I don't know if that's true in this case or not but if it is it's an added bonus.
The lines on the G also look better to me with the longer wheel base. The car looks sleeker and less "scrunched". Again, that's just my opinion. I do like the Roadster and actually ordered one until I got a chance to see the storage in that car. It's almost non-existent! There is ZERO room in the interior and just enough room for a backpack in the trunk. I don't think I could fit a weekend's worth of clothes in that car.
Also, the leather in the G is MUCH better grade than the leather in the Z.
I don't use the backseat often but I did twice yesterday. First to take 3 friends to lunch and then to pick up my wife and all her luggage at the airport. If I didn't have the backseat I couldn't have done either.

I still think the Z is an outstanding car. I love the look of it and at times wish I had one. To those lucky few on this forum that have both, hats off to you. There seem to be a lot of problems with the first batch of Z's though, which I would have had and therefore my choice was probably a bit of a blessing. I do not discount the possibility of getting one down the road. Maybe if I'm really good though maybe momma will let me get an M3 next (1st choice but too much $).

Yes, the Z definitely had problems...A friend of mine and I both experienced the camber issue and ended up with chewed tires...Overall I'm happy with the Z but I can admit that the G35C lines are more attractive...The sedan was a wiser choice for me for the direction I want the project to go in and was basically a business decision...The Coupe was first choice for a project but the Z became the better decision, for me at least...The Coupe definitely still turns my head to this day though
As far as the strut tower brace goes, if you want some useless trivia, the American design team (same woman that headed the team designed the Titan) had to fight to keep the brace in the production car...The Japanese team didn't want it in but the American team apparently got their way

Why would you fight to have that stupid strut bar in the middle? Gah...
I would not change my Gcoupe for a 350z if you offered me one today. I must admit that I still get pangs of remorse seeing a black 350z roll by, especially is its a Track one. The car is so sporty looking, to me, and the small size is awesome. However, it has too many disadvantages to it.
If I had bought a track options Z, I would have had to switch out the regular seats and bought OEM black leather ones, and switched out the audio and install OEM Bose system and all this crap, because they simply don't offer it with the Track trim on the car. Stupid if you ask me. I do really regret those gauges though. I want tire pressure, oil pressure, battery, and stopwatch on our G35's... Maybe when the 350zx comes out, it might be OEM twin turbo. I'll be sure to pick one of those up. =)

Uhm, why are people complaining about the 350Z's chassis-reinforcing rear strut tower bar when they dont even OWN a 350Z? Hearing people talk negatively about a part of the chassis that is 100% functional is just silly. Its like saying "my G35 peels out because it has too much power" -- well then, if you cant handle the heat, get a Honda Accord and blend in with the millions of masses.
The Z is a modern day enthusiast car. Its by far one of the easiest sports cars I've ever driven, considering the amount of power it has. In my opinion, the Z is SO comfortable and easy to drive that after driving it for a while you forget its a sportscar until you mash the gas pedal, take some turns, and mash the brakes -- then you remember what you are driving, and WHY you are driving it.
There people like me who prefer having things like roll cages, racing harnesses, super stiff suspension, etc. Some people dont like that. This is why NISSAN made the Z and then followed with the G35-C.. to cator to different crowds.
I just dont understand how people can complain about something that they dont own and are not even interested in. If you dont like something and dont want those features, dont buy it.

I was originally set to buy the MINI Cooper. 98 percent of the time it is only I that will be in the car. Once in awhile my girlfriend will be in the car also. I dont use the back seat. I would not let anyone ride in my back seat except on certain unavoidable occassions. The reason is because when the seats are moved forward, people getting in and out from the back are not very careful and tend to rub the hsit outta everything.
I just took a 3 hour trip to Philly with my girlfriend for a few days and the trunk was superb for all the shopping this chick did and our 3 days worth of clothes we packed.
I am totally happy with my purchase for what I intended it to be for. A sports car with a little bit of day to day functionality. Nothing more. Nothing less.
By the way, on the way back from Philly, I pushed my car to a cool 140 mph and the best thing about it is the car was so stable and smooth that my girl didnt even look up from the magazine she was reading until I pointed out to her "Look hon, Im doing 140".

I think the backseat in the coupe is excellent and it has a decent trunk. Try putting golf clubs in the back of a 350Z!

Wow. Amazingly enough, the 350Z actually comes FACTORY with a STICKER affixed to the inside of the trunk instructing people HOW to fit golf clubs inside their Z.
???? I often wonder why stickers like this exist.. now I dont need to wonder, thanks.
