steering leather re-wrap 03->06 orange?

I've heard that the dealership can rewrap our leather steering will with new leather for about $100 bucks. Does anyone know if you can have it rewrapped with the orange stitched 06 style leather? I also prefer the perforated leather and smooth top section that the some what knobby 03 style leather (it feels a little cheap to me). if anyone in socal has had a dealership rewrap...which one did it? thanks

Though this doesn't answer your question directly, as an FYI, the '05's had the orange stitching too, which came with the Sports Package.

I was looking at this earlier today, but its just a cover. Maybe this might help.

shouldnt the steering wheel be covered under warranty? my 04 steering wheel is feeling gritty at the top, is this covered under premature wear? my 99 maxima with 145xxx miles on it still has a near perfect steering wheel.

the quality leather used in our cars is really $hitty... like something i'd find in a Kia, not a 40k luxury sports car... my steering wheel is worn too and i have an 05! and on just the left side of the wheel where my hand usually is... and my front seats are pretty worn too... it just makes me mad cuz u'd never see ware and tare like this in a benz or beamer.

lol my thread morphed into a leather hating page, oh well I assume the new leather wrap will fit I just know the "know it alls" at the dealership will tell it wont fit and they cant do it because its not year specific. BTW you guys should have heard what the "head lady" at infiniti costa mesa, CA was giving me as excuses for why my car was consuming oil.

"its normal for the g35 to burn almost 2 quarts in 3k miles"

"your car doesnt work well with full synthetic oil"

"we'll do a consumption test but you know that you cant add oil in between"- lol why would i add oil, I WANT YOU TO REPLACE MY ENGINE FOR USING, WHY WOULD I HIDE IT.

"I've been here for years and weve only replaced 3 engines on g35s, many on m45 and q's but not your car" - No really with your excuses I think you're a damn car god!

i didnt really say anything to her like i did in my replies. I just walked out and was laughing the whole time i pulled my car out of the dealership.

Mine still looks new also. 03 with 54k miles. But I keep my car clean, and condition the leather fairly often.

The leather situation in the G is definitely touchy-feely man...I mean the 03-04 had a more quality leather than the 05-07...And as for the steering..its horrible. Although mine has really worn a whole lot, it cracks in certain parts which totally pisses me off. I would take it to the dealer but I don't feel like being bs'ed and getting more pissed off.

In order to keep your leather looking good...you gotta maintain it man. I usually clean/condition every 2 months.
