Any way to gain an extra inch of head room?
Needless to say, I'm a bit on the tall side, 6'7". I went for a test drive and loved it, seemed to fit fine. BUT, my head was hitting the roof. It does on my current car too, but this seems about a inch shorter.
Does anyone know of any solid fixes for this? Someone was telling me they can do anything if you know where to look. He was mentioning maybe trimming the rails that the seats sit on, so they sit an inch lower.
After driving bulky GM sedans from age 17-25, I think it's time for something new, and love the G35's. I'm just worried the head clearance may start bothering me after the thrill of the new car is gone.

Oh yeah, next time you should try to search

You should look into getting a coupe without a sunroof. The headroom goes from 37.9" to 39.2". Or you can just leave the sunroof open

Haircut?
Open the sunroof?
Just kidding around man - I don't know of any modifications you can do to the seats that will give more headroom.
I would be careful with seat modifications. They are integral with the vehicle's restraint system and could absolve the insurance company of liability should you get in an accident.
It's rare, but I've seen it happen. It is normally associated with seat swaps, but I could see it applying here.
You're a big ****! YIKES!

The exact same post I was thinking of.
Did that mod myself. Now me noggin don't hit the headliner when I go over moderate dips in the road.
Paniller....you are tall at 6'7". Try a test drive without a sunroof. No sunroof = a taller headliner, more headroom over all.
The middle of my head used to hit right at the left open side of sunroof before seat mod. Always thought...dang, if only they made the sunroof wider, then all my head could fit in that open void.
-edit-
That mod btw, doesn't affect airbag operation or restraint system.

i was told by the dealer that all coupes brought to the us have sunroofs. So i assume thatd mean you wouldnt have one to test drive w.o a sun roof, but you sure can order one without it.

yeah i am 6 4'' and did the seat lowering mod...while it helped..it wasnt anything MAJOR. at least now when i go over small bump i dont hit. i realize i drive leaning slightly to the right so that my head fits in the sunroof opening lol. love the sun roof but may have not been the best choice...kinda have to slouch so I dont drive looking through the blue tint
i'd say if you can do without it, dont get the sunroof!

I'll definitely keep an eye out, but this is month 3, and haven't even spotted one.

You do have to get a sunroof if you want Nav and the Prem. Pkg.
It's a shame, as the added headroom makes a huge difference. I had to order my '05 to get a hardtop in the color I wanted (with 6MT). You might have to do the same, if it's that important to you.
Personally, after having to compromise my driving position to clear the roof in my last sunroof-equiped car, which led to back pain, the added headroom was one of the main reasons I ordered a hardtop coupe.
