Althought this is a top gear vid for the 350 and not a g35 but still pretty much the same car. Im really mad about how he complains about the engine and performace! This is not a french engine!!!! Take a look!

Xenon, Take it with a grain of salt man. Some of these news-types (especially in England) will say anything to get a laugh, even be rediculous.
I saw that video some time ago, and laughed just as loudly then.
He obviously isn't a fan of Japanese sports cars-- probably not of Japanese at all, and was looking to poke holes in what we know to be a pretty good ride. (while trying to boost his shares in 'Vauxhaul') -- believe me you don't want to know - it's a real POS. [img]/w3timages/icons/smile.gif[/img]
I wouldn't mind betting he's used to riding around in a roller skate (Mini), which I can tell you is better suited to most English roads, (Yes I'm from England too) since they were built early on in the last century.. Save for a few 'M' roads (high speed carriageways) and the like, you really don't want to be in a hurry to go anywhere in England.
So as I said, don't take offense. He was just trying to be funny and rude and in England he probably succeeded. In anywhere else it just appeared as rude.
Who cares what he says. The fact that they can sell all they make whether it's Nissan or Infiniti speaks volumes. His trumped up 'media type attitude' speaks one thing to me: Stupidity or maybe Jealousy. I guess that's 2 , sorry .. Oh well , he deserves it.

i guess theres a lil biasm w/ the top gear drivers, but they are former f1 drivers and great ones at that... I don't think it's the fact that they rated it down cuz its a japanese car cuz they gave really high marks for the rx-8 and the s2000... maybe they just dont like the ride? they also gave the skyline gt-r really good marks a year or two back. shrugs

3.5liter car producing 280 hp, while a 2.2 liter s2000 producing 260 or so horsepower... or a 1.3 rotary producing 238 hp... maybe thats why theyre complaining about the engine, about how it doesnt produce as much hp per liter as some other highly technological advanced cars do... but maybe im just weird... its all in my opinion though G35 is still a nice car...

 

Well, as you know the rx-8 has many weak spots while the Z or the G is virtually no weak spots in the engine. Top Gear kept on saying this car is a french engine which we all know they have some rivalery against. They did not point any of the strong points the Z is suppose to have. As for the nice stero system; the loudness the subwoofers, what more do you want? Do they want some nice silent speakers that you have to crank up to make the music sound decent? The exhaust is too loud? Being that they are F1 drivers they should understand why it is loud because its not as restricted as the others. Sounds and performance comes hand in hand. I just dont get it!?!?!?! But of course like what g35sedan said.... whatever! I dont matter he is just mad and has a stick up his ***!

Actually, what is the VQ35DE engine's history? Was it developed entirely by Nissan, or did Renault play a major role (thus making it French)?

Yeh, you may have something there. British humour is different from our N/A humour.
I found it strange that a club was in attentance there with him along with proud owners of past Z's. He was critical of some of them except the '70 240, but was most critical of the new Z.

what a bunch of BS. Mazda just payed him while Nissan probably told him to "kiss my ***". Or like someone said, he has something against renault.

Has he ever done reviews on a renault car? I actually was looking into getting a Clio.
