Worth Less? or worthless?
Worth Less? or worthless?
OK, so I am a little tired of my G35, seeing as how it's on it's 2nd Engine and the front sway bar is loose, again...
Do you think the fact that the engine has been replaced in just under 9000 miles makes the car worth a little less?
I was going to sell it, but no one really wants to buy the car. I thought it was a reasonable sale price ..
$32,000 ..
6mt, prem package, rear active steering, .. are there more options?
The only 2 it doesn't have is the nav and the aero package.
it also has the locking lugs (big whoopie).. trunk/cargo mat and net, and the wind deflector. The car is in new condition, even still has all the tags on the interior and has 9300 miles on it now.. am I asking too much, or is the engine making people nervous?

having the engine changed doesnt make the car worth any less because fact is ....your car is still under warranty & mileage is very good.
but I am a car dealer & if you told me that engine was changed I would use it against you & make you feel lke its a worthless piece of crap & then get u to trade it in for little or nothing & then make a very healthy profit
...yea its a cruel world & I got 2 kids to feed
Im wondering ...why are you telling people the engine was replaced anyway?
its not like your hiding a current problem ...its a good thing it was replaced but hearing that scares ppl
if the new engine runs perfect now, then no need to scare people off ...you are killing your own sale!!

BTW.. did u try CarMax? i heard them advertising that they will buy your car even if u dont buy one from them.
It is a cruel world and most people won't give you a good price for a car on engine #2. The warranty is a good thing but most people don't want to deal with it or take the risk unless the price is good. Your asking price is a bit high IMO.
Buddy I'm trying to sell mine too, good luck. I'm asking 31K and only have 5K miles.
I'm selling my 04 RSVR Factory too! How do you like the 07? Have you checked out AF1's website?

Wow, you guys are asking a bit much for that car used. You can almost buy a brand new car with extras at invoice (pre 07) or even less then invoice.
Now, if I was in the market for a car and found out the engine was replaced, I would look for another car for the simple fact that it isn't original. I know, it still has the warranty but having an entire engine replaced just scares me. Also, you know how the mechanics are, they aren't perfect and may have screwed things up while putting in that new engine (who knows, right?). Really, I would rather look for another car that didn't have the engine replaced. It isn't as though our cars are rare, so I would shop around for another one. Just a mentality thing. Good look with the sale.

price too high. I got my 05 (6 speed) in 06 with only little over 5000 miles on it, got everything except nav for only 30K..and i got it from a bmw dealership. people would expect to pay less from a private party.
i dont think it has anything to do with your engine but more with your list price. if you go for something like 30K, you might have a better chance.
another thing to consider is that there are so many G35s out there and G37 is just around the corner, i think the overall resale values really isnt all that great like it once was. so many used G35s for sale out there its not even funny.
