Did the advertised MPG's change for 04
Did the advertised MPG's change for 04
I just read the Car and Driver 10 best article and it says the G gets something like 20/21. Thats alot less than my window sticker said for my 03 coupe.
Does anyone know what the advertised MPG's is for the 04's.
I wonder if they lowered it due to poor gas mileage and if we have an argument for Infiniti??
Luv My G

That will tell you all you want to know.
BTW, there will never be any argument-- mileage figure are estimates, just as it says on your window sticker. There are high and low ranges for both city and highway driving.

Dude, I am upset because I got an 04 a month ago and do not gas it at all and I get 20 barely on the highway, 17-18 city. The sticker said 27 highway 20 city. I feel ripped off.

It wont get much better. I get about 16 mpg in the city (like 280 mile cruise on 17.5 gallons). My best MPG was 100% highway at a lil under 23.
I spend about 20$ more per fillup to go the same distance as I do in my daily commuter car.

Be careful with how deep you get into the throttle when accelerating or the engine will slurp it up. Mine was a regular 18-20 MPG city and that's just what I'd expect with how I was driving it. It changed right along with my driving style/habits. FAST cross country highway driving was getting me 22-23 MPG and that wasn't just cruising, many changes to throttle position for passing, etc. If I wanted to granny it on cruise and drive the speed limit I'm sure it'd be most impressive (more than expected).
A point I'm trying to make is I believe driving style has a lot to do with economy. A recent post I read (not here) about a fellow who compared his and his wife's driving as analyzed by a Davis Carchip (OBDII) found that her poorer mileage despite similar driving speeds was due to her "lead foot" from when the accelerator was depressed compared to his.
One more thing to consider is shift points. Infiniti recommends shifting in the range of 1,700-1,900 RPM (IIRC) to the next gear (more info in Owner Manual) for economy. Or you could take a similar approach to Corvettes and skip shift from 1->3->5->6, shifting so that in the next gear the revs are down to about 1,500 RPM, about where Infiniti's suggested gear shifts end up. That definitely reduces the amount of rowing throught the gates getting up to 40 MPH as well as saving the clutch some too (less shifting).
This engine's got enough torque at low revs to handle any of this. Pay close attention to how you're driving the engine and you might find something you didn't realize. It may not be a big difference but if it's important to you, it'll be big enough.

Re: Did the advertised MPG's change for 04
i had a saturn MT SL2 that had a sticker estimate of 37 or 38 highway. this summer, driving it highway at 80 mph i avg'd 35 or so. i'm sure if i did 55 or 60 i would have gotten 37 or so.
my daily driver is a sentra. i have 5000 on it. i barely get 30 mph driving 70-80.
i wonder if it's nissan engines.
i know it is just an estimate, but....
04 6mtC, DG - possibly most babied G on the board.
