7500 Mi. Service & FX

I just had my coupe in for the 7500 service and thought I would share my experience and dealer comments, etc.

They charged me $100 to basically change the oil, balance the wheels, & other items listed in the manual for 7500 mi. They used regular 10/30 oil and don't even have synthetic available.
They replaced my front brake pads and machined the rotors under the warranty. Rear brakes were still OK (rear pads were replaced with the upgraded pad at 3700 mi.) but they said brakes will continue to squeek while in reverse until the factory comes up with a fix. (This is certainly a lot of brake issues for only 7500 miles!!).
Other misc. items I had such as rattles, could not be duplicated, not even by me, so they were not fixed.
They also told me that the factory is still working on a fix for the outside temp sensor (mine reads inaccurate at higher outside temperatures).
I inquired about ECU reset, z tubes, and cold air intakes, etc. and both the service writer and service tech dismissed them as doing little. They also said that any aftermarket air intake where the air filter is still in the engine compartment would be sucking hot air; whereas the stock one does draw in cold air from the front of the hood, etc.

I was given an FX35 as my loaner. First let me say, I am not an SUV fan, but I was really impressed with the FX. It really is a sport SUV. It had plenty of power, handled well, and rode comfortably on the 20" wheels (it did have a little wheel hop on one patch of freeway). It had all the little extra luxury & comfort items that they left off of the G. I particularly liked the keyless ignition and full power seats. I found the radio and A/C controls very unintuitive. Although I've heard others say the Bose in the FX was better than in the G; in my opinion the FX sounded more bassy than the G, but it still was not very good. I guess Bose just sucks in any form!! It was also nice to see that the FX transmission had the manumatic mode that operates like the coupe, not the sedan, which was good. My business associate, who only buys american cars and has as Escalade, even like the FX, particularly the back-up camera (we could use it on the coupe). The FX was much quieter inside than the G (but still noisier than a BMW). I would consider an FX35, or probably the FX 45, for my next car. I would definately pick it over a G35 sedan.

Anyway, that was my experience.................
