Headlights aimed too low?!
Headlights aimed too low?!
I've been noticing that when I drive on a dark stretch of road, I can barely see 50' in front of me w/ the low-beams and fogs all the way on. I can't believe this s***; aren't these HIDs supposed to be really bright? I think they're just aimed too low. I let the service dep't know about it today when I took the G in for its first oil change and they claim they adjusted them (BS! I just drove again tonight and didn't notice any difference; grrr!). Does anyone know how to adjust the headlights; 'looks like I'm going to have to do it myself. *sigh*

Re: Headlights aimed too low?!
You can indeed adjust your headlights, with little or no trouble. Sometime between the 2003.5 and the 2004 models (to my knowledge) Infiniti started putting caps over the adjustment access hole for some reason. Some people, after taking their cars in for service, even found these caps newly installed. If you have them, you can likely drill them or possibly pry them out.
In any case, the thread you want is here.
That should contain all the info you need. Be careful not to adjust them too high however. Some people have reported they cannot adjust them back down after going past a specific point. Perhaps that is why Infiniti is installing the caps now.

Re: Headlights aimed too low?!
D***; I probably have caps then (got mine in late September). Maybe that's why they didn't fix them. I'll check real soon though. If there ARE caps on there, I might just take it back and tell them to break them off or whatever they have to do and fix it because driving around like this is dangerous; I feel like I only have fog lamps on in the dark!

I've had my coupe 2 1/2 weeks, and the night I drove it home I noticed the exact same thing. Turning the fogs on seems to help a bit.
Re: Headlights aimed too low?!
Not for me; I have the fog lights on all the time also.

Re: Headlights aimed too low?!
When I popped the hood, I looked into the holes and saw a white plastic piece that had a slot in the middle that a flathead screwdriver could easily fit into, but it was still daylight, so I did not try it out yet. Does it sound like I have these "caps" or no?

Every g35 has fog lights. The switch is right next to the headlight switch, its a little farther in on the stalk. Turns the same way the headlight switch does.
Fldrummer - If you can see the white gears, the caps are not installed, and you should be able to adjust easily.

I nominate Merlin for Mod-of-the-Month.
You can't have the fogs on by themselves BTW, they are only on if your lows are on as well.

Well, it looks like there's a cap w/ a small hole on top. I can see some rigid white thing in there, but I haven't been able to turn it with anything (my screwdrivers were too big to fit in the holes, so I tried something else, but it kept loosing its grip.
