K&N

Anyone have K&N air filter on their G? I was wondering how well it worked for you, did anyone notice any little power increase. My friend has an rsx type s and he said he noticed some power from his.
Also, when have you guys been doing your very first oil change. My navi and manual says 3750 miles. Is that too long?
Thanks

Re: K&N

Also, I was wondering what kind of leather conditioner/cleaner you guys are using and whether it is working or not. Plus how often do you use it?
Thanks

Re: K&N

as for the k&n i dont have one. but i took mine in around that time fo rth e1st oil change. i use lexol cleaner and conditioner. the cleaner is in an orange bottle and the conditioner is in a brown bottle, i believe might be the other way around but those are the 2 colors. works really well. i use it like everyother time i wash the car.

Re: K&N

i use the same leather stuff as SFLG35... haven't gotten a chance to use the cleaner yet (car is too new), but the conditioner works great.

Cost me $9/bottle though at pepboys.. but at least it seems like it'll last one heck of a long time.

Re: K&N

Installed K&N drop-in filter last week did not notice "much" difference. Seems to run a little smoother, I did notice my MPG go up from 18.3 to 18.5 after a week of driving, could be breakin period or the filter? Car had 3500 miles when filter was installed noticed the difference before 3750 oil change 2 days ago.

Re: K&N

Lexol is the best in my opinion for the leather. Or if you want a little cheaper go with Meguirs Leather Treatment. As for the K & N I'm gonna go with the Typhoon CAI. I don't think I've heard of anyone getting anything from the drop-in filter. Good luck.

Re: K&N

This seems to be the most asked question, will a K&N void your cars warranty and the answer is and will be always no. It cannot.

Lets put it like this, any part of your car that is what's known as a maintenance item (needs to be serviced regularly and or at certain intervals) such as your air filter, oil filter, spark plugs, engine oil and so fourth, does not have to be from of or the manufacturers brand. You have the right as a consumer to purchase and use whatever brand and or product you like. That's part of what the whole Magnuson Moss Warranty Act is all about and it states (in the simplest of terms)...

Legally, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty on a vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove without a doubt that the aftermarket part caused or contributed to the failure in the vehicle.

With that in mind - its been recorded in several cases that the oil used in K&N's have messed up some mass air sensors, thus leading certain people hanging with their warranty claims. That's the ONLY area that I have ever found as an "issue" with K&N vs paper and or foam element filters that can't do such damage and it makes perfect sense to me.

Re: K&N

FYI...My wife and I have K&N in both of our G35's. I put in 2 weeks ago. Neither of us had noticed any significant difference.

My Z tube and Grounding wires are on the way to me. I hope with all of these they will be some difference.

Re: K&N

I notices a differnce in smoothness and subtle high-end response.. After instaling the grounding kit and z-tube however (in conjunction with the K&N, I noticed a signifigant difference.
