I bought a G35 coupe yesterday. I will pick it up in a few days (they threw in a spoiler and had to order it). I saw the recall online. How do I determine if my new car needs the fix? Thanks.

if you want but when i took off my bumper there was no need to take the wheel off. just turn them to the opposite direction to get an easy look to work on.

It's determined by VIN number. Just call your dealership and ask if your VIN falls within the recall.

thanks for the link. very helpful.. i just took a closer look at my bumper and guess what, the alignment is also off on the driverside. so i will find some time to do all this myself. i've have to do the same thing to my integra to pop out a dent.

what a freaking biotch.

*sigh*

If its not done correctly after tommow I wll be back up there straight to the service manager.

This is SEWELL in DALLAS, TEXAS by the way. A great dealership but I have noticed a little sloppy on service from time to time. The MAJOR stuff they handle well the little stuff I think they could honestly give a fück about though.

again * sigh*
Sewell infiniti always treats me great AND they have fresh baked cookies and a nice waiting room.

Dude I go to Sewell Infiniti in Dallas TX as well and they are pretty lazy up there if you ask me. I was asking to get my lights align for the 3rd time and the service manager sighed like "man i got to deal with you again for the 3rd time" type of sigh. Once i heard that I asked when they align it do they align the horizontal an verticalness of the light and he said only the verticalness. Then I ask if they have some type of calculation on how to aim it. He said no, they free eye it when its on a lift pointing not to far away from the wall.

Whatever though, I didnt bring it in on that day cause I was like screw it, Im going to do it myself. Did the DIY from redlude and it really came out AWESOME! Better than those free eyeing people.

Notice your pother thread about some air bag light on your sedan. Well my sister has a sedan and her airbag light was going on since the 3rd month of owning the car due from a 18 wheelers tire on the road that she hit damaging the front bumper. There was no internal damage, just a front bumper damage that got replaced with a new bumper after. The airbag light was lit and i brought it in NUMEROUS times and they kept telling me it was a harness problem over and over and giving me ridiculous quotes on repairing that. IT WAS ONLY A DAMAGE BUMPER! My sister then gets into another car accident a year after damaging the whole front end to the radiator. We get it repaired at the Sewell Collision center and the air bag light was something that needed to be fixed. Everything is covered by insurance. The collision center then also repairs that "harness" problem but guess what? LIGHT WAS STILL UP AND NEVER TUNRED OFF. We bring it back for about 3 months and finally Sewell dealership figured what it was. Not the harness but a computer module problem. Im just so pissed how they said that and this but it was one thing all this time. I would have had drop about 1,500 just for that harness even though it was never that. So yeah GREAT dealership.

Sewell is a fine dealership. I said they do wonderful work on big issues but tend to slack on the things they deem minor.

They treat you like gold, they do have wonderful cookies and tea, fountain soft drinks as well, Playstation and XBox in the waiting room.

I called the main Infiniti customer service # and they couldn't tell me if my car needed the recall or not. They said since I just bought it Saturday it's not "registered" in their main system. Seems like this is done by VIN.

The best advice I can give is to walk around your car with the service guy and point out that there is no damage on the vehicle. No scratches on the paint, no curbage on wheels, etc. And insist that it be documented with the estimate they give you and have you sign. Also remember to tell them NO WASH every time. Cuz if you don't, they will wash it. Finally, get to know one of the service people. There is one person that I talk to all of the time at the dealership I go to. So now he is used to my routine and knows that I don't **** around when it comes to my G. He is a cool guy though and takes care of me. He was actually really helpful in the end when my engine was getting replaced. He also had them replace the headlights and fix the hood latch they had broken on my previous visit there. Good luck fellas.

got to take a look at it today. and guess what, theres a 1" scratch on the passenger fender near the headlight.

not only that, some moron tried to hide it with touch-up paint.

seeing how i read some of the horror stories, i already knew what to look for. they replaced the headlight, so i took a quick look around the car and then took a closer look near the headlights.

the passenger headlight is a bit off, theres a small gap from the headlight to the bumper.

the scratch is near the tip of the fender where it meets the headlight.

I SHOULD HAVE NEVER TOOK IT IN. Should of left the headlights alone. This recall isn't anything mechanical or major. I wished I never took it to the dealer.

Good news, if you can call it that. My emaculate or it was b4 i took it in, is getting some bodywork done.

I will give u guys an update on the finished work.

This is just retarded. I would have understood if they called me and said they F'd up. And they are going to fix it no problem. Instead, they tried to pull a fast one on me. Putting touch up paint and hope that I didn't notice?

I don't know about the rest of you, but when it comes to my car, my paint, and rims, I notice everything that shouldn't be there, or wasn't there 4.

For the rest of you, I would say, do the recall at your risk. Not really worth it. I left work early for nothing. Lost an hours pay.
karma's a b!tch

Yep, I agree here. I know my service guy by first name but he keeps calling me John (No, that isn't even close to my name) Anywho, he knows I take car of my car so when I say "Wanna check to see if there are any marks on my car?" he knows he doesn't need to because there aren't any and knows to return it the same way. Although, he keeps forgetting to put the "NO CAR WASH" on the car seat and window so I have to remind him of that though. Otherwise, Infiniti of South Bay is pretty decent to me.
