Big Screw in my Tire!!!!
As the title reads, today i stopped by the dealership to drop off my belongings and I parked outfront, everything is fine so far, I leave the dealership to my parkinglot and i put the music down and notice a strange sound coming from my rear drivers side. I get out and find a License Plate screw gouged in my tire, I freaked out and flew back to have my mechanic buddies plug it.
My question to you guys is will the plug affect the TPMS??? the light went off after i put air in the tire but i dont want to mess up the sensors for any reason. sorry for the long story.

You should be OK with a plug and patch if the nail is in the tread of the tire and not very close to or in the sidewall. I have a plug in my rear tire from a nail that I got in it while parking in the dirt parking lot at one of my Softball leagues. The plug held up fine for about a year or so, but it's got a slow leak now and I have to put air in the tire once a week. I'm going to get new tires soon anyways since I'm at about 3/32" of tread depth on my rears.... otherwise I'd be annoyed a lot more by this than I am.

We all get screwed sometimes........
I don't know where the idea of plugging a radial tire came from. That was
they way to fix a tire prior to the introduction to the radial tire....NOT TODAY!
Your tire can be patched if it's not close to the sidewall, but get it patched
not plugged. You don't want a plug interacting with steel belts that constantly flex with your tire. At one time I had a couple tires in my garage
that had screws close to the sidewall, one only had 200 miles on it but it
was junk because of the location.
