Drives side window not going up, no warranty

After I spent 4 hours Zainoing and cleaning the exterior/interior of my 2003 Coupe, the drives side power window decided to crap out. I had the motor replaced 2 years ago by the dealer and I understand that this is a common problem. After reading some forums I tried banging on the door which worked and managed to get the window up but once in a while it craps out again.
Can someone tell me what the exact problem is, if it's the motor or the solenoid/relay and is this fixable by taking the motor apart and repairing it?
Also, does anyone have the procedure to replace the motor?
$500 is a little steep to have the dealer fix it and I'm sure Infiniti will not extend the warranty for this.
Thanks
Steve

right now my driver side motor is dead, it works when I slam the door hard and hold the power window switch I am trying to get a used motor and put it on myself. There was a link here that showed how to put the motor in, and when you do you have to reset the motor by pressing a button, kinda hard to explain.

500 is a ripoff, the motor is about 175 and labor is about 130 ish. You can always just buy the motor and install it yourself.

yeah, no need for a dealer to install it, just find a garage that works on infiniti's. you might even look around for a pick n' pull to see if you cant find a motor there

This was a huge headache for me as well. I was still under warranty but I am not on motor #3 which was replaced 2 weeks ago and now when I have my window up and driving I can hear wind coming in through the driver sidewindow. My 2nd motor was so screwed up I could slam my door and my windows would roll down as my car was shut off. Good luck.
