License plate adapter

Does anyone have that adapter for the front license plate that goes on the tow hook? Does it work well, and will it work for an '04?
Thanks

Re: License plate adapter

i'm thinking you're talkin about stictlyz's bracket:

if so yes, it definitely works well.. i've had it on both my coupes, 03.5 and 04.. no problems with the law and install was extremely easy.. the bracket is very sturdy and high quality.. definitely something worthwhile gettin if you live in an area where cops are **** about front license plates..

Re: License plate adapter

Is it easy to take off and put back on, like if i didnt feel like having it on one day, can it just be unscrewed from the tow hook?
Thanks

Yes, it is easy to install and remove. There are two screws, one to attach the plate frame to the piece that screws into the tow hook, and a much smaller screw that locks the first one in place, IIRC. The kit comes with allen wrenches for both screws. I bought one before my coupe came in, and it and my front plate are still sitting on the floor in the back. :P It's a solid piece, I'd recommend it.

Re: License plate adapter

Just FYI, I've had the adapter for about three months, and have noticed that the bolts are starting to rust. I've only driven in rain twice, one of which was after a snowstorm (i.e. salt on the ground). You may want to take some precautions to ensure that the bolts don't become frozen.

Re: License plate adapter

If you have a clear bra, you will have to cut through it to remove the tow hook cover, right? I just thought about that. I hope that doesn't cause the clear bra to peel. I really want to get this adapter too. I'm glad to hear some more opinions from G owners. The pics on Strictly Z look acceptable. It seems pretty costly, but I guess there is no other alternatives out there. I hope the rust is not a problem. There is no snow in Houston...just lots of FRICKEN rain (year round). I moved to Houston about 1 1/2 yr ago from Cali. I'm not used to this crappy weather. YUCK!!!!

Re: License plate adapter

You're not the only with the rust issue. I've had the strictly z adapter for over 2 months and the bolts/screws have also started to rust. Other than that 'minor' issue, the adapter's holding up fairly well.

Re: License plate adapter

I attract no-front-license-plate tickets like crazy for some reason, so I ordered one of theses StrictlyZ adapters soon after I got the car... it's been 2 months and I still have not received my plates yet (Pasadena, CA)! Not that I'm complaining or anything.. but I would like to get that gaudy paper ID thing with the huge Infiniti of Montclair sticker off of my windshield.

Re: License plate adapter

My clear bra has a separate piece for the tow hook cover. No problems at all removing the cover.

Re: License plate adapter

Yeah Cameron, I realized it was a separate piece after I posted...Sorry. I went out and looked at it afterwards. Thanks
