Rear Axle Clicking TSB $210+ !?

Recently I've been getting a clicking sound from the rear end of my car everytime I start up from a stop. The clicking seems to be getting worse with time. I checked the forum and found that many people had the same problem and that there is an Infiniti TSB out for the rear axle clicking noise. I mentioned this to my service dept and they told me the TSB would cost $210+ to perform. My car is a 2003 so it's already out of it's factory warranty, but I purchased the Infiniti factory extended warranty back in 2005. The dealership told me the TSB isn't covered by the Extended Warranty plan!?

Does anyone have any knowledge about the rear axle TSB and the cost? I was told there are no parts involved, basicly they would retighten some bolts in the rear axle - I thought $210+ sounds very pricy to tighten some nuts.

Thanks for your advice in advance.

I would talk to the warranty provider and see. I would expect something like that to be covered.

regrease, is all you do, its really simple. there is a DIY on this forum. it only takes an hr. its not a recall, so they wont fix it if your car is outta warranty. if you are mechanically inclined, its a simple fix.

I would expect all TSB to be covered regardless if under warranty. Is this the correct TSB you're talking about? http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../ITB05-002.htm

I'm getting the clicking too. it's annoying as if something is rattling.

Thanks for the advice guys. I found the TSB on the links provided above. I am going to print them out and bring the instruction to a local performance shop see if they can fix it for me. I need to get my Hotchkis lubed and brakes changed anyways.

Will update on the clicking after it's done.

TSB is only a reference guide for technicians. "Technical Service Bulletin"... basically, im not sure if you know, but im just gonna say it anyways. What it is, is its a common problem, and if technician cant figure it out, they refer to the "bulletins" and search for the symptoms. not quite a recall.

Im not sure why they just dont make it recalls anyways because its a common problem.

if your car is out of warranty, TSB's wont be covered. only recalls are 'covered', no matter how old the car is.
