What an amazing car
What an amazing car
I just want to share my experience with some the people that are visiting this site thinking about getting a G35 Couple (as I was a couple of weeks ago )...
Well, I got an 04 Twilight Blue G35 Coupe 5AT with Premium, Aero, wheels, and nav about a month ago. I have to say that this car is incredible. The performance is awesome (1100 mi. so far) and I love everthing about it. I never really thought I could get excited about a car, but I look forward to driving this car every chance I get.
I compared with a few of the usual competitors and this car easily won out in my opinion. The 330Ci was close, but the G looks far better. Also, I had a Jag X-Type before this (with quite a few quality problems), so I was particularly interested in the build quality. Well, it's been a month and my picky nature can't find anything wrong with this car. Plus, it's very reassuring to hear mostly little nitpicking problems that users have with their cars. If you want to see REAL problems, go visit a Jaguar board...
Also... thanks to all the users here to who posted on this board. It helped me make the decision all the easier.
.. see you guys around Chicagoland (when there's no snow)

Re: What an amazing car
Thanks.
Yeah, I've been watching out for those concrete parking markers. When I first got the car I "slowly" ran into one, but it didn't do any damage. Checked it out and it was fine. Gotta be more careful.

Re: What an amazing car
dominoedge,
What gave the G35C the edge over the 330Ci? I'm trying to decide currently. I've drove the G35C and plan to drive a 330Ci this evening or tomorrow evening. I'm looking at a brand new 04 G35C in TB/willow versus a 2003 certified pre-owned 330Ci topaz/grey thats loaded with all the options (nav aswell). Prices are similar due to discount being offered on G35C by grubbs and because the bimmer is used.

Re: What an amazing car
HDCLown,
Honestly, once I realized the performance was similar (if not better in the G35), the main reason is aesthetic. IMHO, the G35 has a really distinctive look while the 330Ci looks rather plain. Also, I really love the look of G35 with all the trimmings (aero kit) and I think the interior looks better too. I've read that BMW is overhauling the look of the 330Ci within the next year or two --- good it needs a refresh.
Performance-wise, the auto with the manu-matic shifter feels really good in the G... you can feel more torque. My dealer let me take the car out for a while (alone) so I really got to "play" with the car. After my *uh-hum* extended test drive... my decision was made.
Also, you pointed out, was the cost. I could have plunked down the extra 4k for the 330Ci, but at that point I figured I would be paying more for an inferior car with a BMW badge. Just didn't make sense to me.
Hope this helps!

Oh Ya, The G-coupe is "AN ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SUPERCAR". At a price of only $35K,it is a hell of buy. I'm not being bias but the BMW 330ci don't really even come close to our G. EVEN IF BMW SOLD ME THE 330CI AT THE SAME PRICE AS THE G, I WOULD STILL GO WITH THE G, BECAUSE WHEN YOU REV THAT ENGINE YOU JUST WANT TO HEAR THAT RUMMBLE OF THE EXHAUST AND SCREAM DOWN THE STREET IN OUR AMAZING G. PEACE.
Re: What an amazing car
I just got my blk/blk 6-spd coupe on tuesday!! This car is really amazing. We have four BMW 330ci sport pack test cars here at Tire Rack that we drive on a frequent basis testing product. I really think the G-35 accelerates better and handles a bit better. The BMW's have a better low end, but the G-35 has a bit more on the torque side. I cant feel the BMW's pull as much as the G from mid to high range.
Overall, I am super pleased with my purchase!!

Re: What an amazing car
I was very impressed with the car before the 1000 mi. mark. Now that I can punch it, the car perfoms great. It's just an absolute blast to drive and the manumatic is lots of fun. In general, I've always disliked driving ... now I know that I just didn't have the right car...
