Clutch/disk problems ?!
Clutch/disk problems ?!
Got my new coupe (6-speed manual) less than 3 weeks ago and I now have 1,400 miles mostly driven on the highway. I took it in for my first oil change after the break-in period and I mentioned to them that I hear an increasing grabbing noise as my car starts in first gear. The technician drove it and noticed it also in the second gear, not as pronounced but still there. He agreed that it's odd and we took another brand new coupe for a test drive just to see if we can hear the same noise. As expected, the shifting in the new car was without any noise. I left the car with them to be diagnosed.
Has anyone experienced anything like that ?

As a side note, I'm just curious. Why did you have the oil changed right after break-in instead of the recommended 3750?
I've got about 1400 on my 6MT but no "grabbing" noises from the transmission. I did get on it the other day for the 1st time after break-in with my wife in the car. She was making all kinds of "grabbing" noises never having been in a car this fast before.. lol. She was holding her breath the whole time and when I backed off, she asked.."Can I breath now?" Anybody know of a way to get fingerprint marks out of the passenger side chicken bar?

Re: Clutch/disk problems ?!
I'm religious about oil changes (I used to do it every 2,000 miles on my previous cars). I think it's good to change the oil after the recommended break-in period which is 1,200 miles.
Re: Clutch/disk problems ?!
If the clutch disc is partially glazed it can make noise under engagement. I don't know exactly how it pertains to hydraulic setups, but i know on a cable setup, if the clutch isn't adjusted properly, even with a good driver (one that doesn't abuse everything and overly slip the clutch) the clutch can start to glaze under normal driving conditions....
