Ok just to clarify everything. First off there is no way that, that was a BMW 330ci. You would not have beaten it that bad. the quarter mile on a 330ci is 14.5 and a quarter mile on a G35 Sports Coupe is 14.28. Granted the drag coef. is .32 in a 330ci and .28 in a G35 with the aero package and .29 without. Now the times from 60-100 mph for a 330ci is 9.87s and the G35 is 8.88s so it is faster don't get me wrong but the 330ci would not be behind by 10 car lengths. thats just not possible. Oh and unless you buy a M3 a BMW is mainly built for luxury not speed. So beat a M3 and then u will have something to brag about.

I guess that's why their entire range of vehicles fly under the banner of the ultimate driving machines. It's a shame, considering that the IS350 and G35 6MT Sedan both beat out the BMW in the luxury/interior appointments and fit/finish sections in SPEED Magazine's recent comparison test. The only reason the BMW came out on top was due to it's better-feeling (performance-oriented) gearbox and suspension.

Yawn!!! Beating a 330 is so....2002. I cut my teeth on 330ci and 330i in 2002 when I first got my Coupe. I was as curious as they were. Yes, it was close until the top of 3rd gear, then the G walks away. They are geared to do well up until the 1/4 mile, after that, not much going on. Just don't look at 1/4 mile times, look at the ending mph. The Coupe is trapping close to 100 mph. Since we're mag racing, also look at the trap speed and time to 100 mph. You'll see that the G's trap is 100, while the 300i needs 1 second to reach 100 from their usual trap of 96 mph. This means the G is pulling away.

I actually own a G35 and a 2002 BMW 330i - the G35 is faster (and no, I am not talking butt dyno). Significantly faster? No - about a half second (give or take) in the 1/4, but still faster.

yes the peformance package 330ci is quicker and it would be too close of a race....my 330ci is only only equiped with the sport package and it is an automatic...so my 6MT will take it.....a 330ci manual will keep up with a 6MT....a 330ci manual with the performance package....i never raced one ...and i wouldn't be surprised if it came out on top.....

debadging the M3 and putting 330 on it would be pointless since the distinguishing characteristics of an M3 are the quad exhaust and the side quarter panel grates

For us drag guys, .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile is a lifetime. I'll say .5 is close to 2.5 cars back...enough to see tail lights.
