Coupe getting new competition...?
Re: Coupe getting new competition...?
Please....if 0-60 times are all it takes to compete with the g coupe than the g coupe is already beat by the current mustang cobra and 350z to name a few.
No, to compete with the g35c you need speed and CLASS...a rare combo...and a combo the next mustang with not deliver...

Re: Coupe getting new competition...?
I hope that there is a ton of competition for the G35. So all the prospective non-enthusiast buyers will opt for the "other car".

That Hyundai sure looks pretty good. I don't like Korean cars now but who knows, one day they could become like Japanese cars are today.
Of the 3 cars shown on that thread, I think only the Mustang is a direct competitor to the G. It's probably the only rear-driver of the 3 cars. The Mustang GT will perform better in a straight line, but that's probably going to be it for its advantages.

Re: Coupe getting new competition...?
I am a muscle car fan and in fact own a 1970 Mustang Mach I ( which is a fantastic car). I saw the new Mustang at the car show, and while it had the cues of the old Mustang's; it did not impress me much. In the looks & prestiege dept. it can't touch the G. I don't think it will be any more of a challenge to the G then the current Mustang is.
I really question the Mustang quality too. I recently had a 2003 Mustang V6 as a rent a car and it was a complete piece of junk. Terrible build quality & materials. It was dangerous too. It did a 130 degree spin on me when I down shifted it on a wet road. I returned it the next day .How they will keep it on the road with a 300 hp V8 is beyond me. But no question, it will dust a G in the straight line in V8 form.
I also saw the Crossfire at the auto show and was not impressed with it in person either. Inside it seemed very small.
The RX8 was even more unimpressive in person.
So yes there are some competitive cars, but I still feel the G is in a class by itself (for the time being).
