Bent Rod ?

Hello im looking to buy a g35 coupe auto (03). Gorgeous car the guy is asking for a low extrmeley low price, 15k. But he was telling me that it has a bent rod and it is not driveable. He said they bent the rod driving in a flood. How legit do you this this seller is. And how bad is a bent rod and how much would it be to buy and install another rod.

If any1 knows where to buy a rod for an 2003 couple AT please post below thanks.

Bent rod from driving in flood means hydrolock. Water got in the engine and did some internal damage. Also damaged are probably some pistons and valves. You're looking at a new motor, not just a rod.

He told me that the person went through a puddle and bent the rod. Im not axactly sure what the damage is but i also think it would be more than a rod. Is there a rod that would prevent the car from driving.

VQ engine rod is the weakest link for this engine. So it very posible the rod is bend when the engine take in water. The rod is the piece that conected to the piston and crankshaft. when the the rod push the piston up and the cylinder is full of water and water is not compressable so something gotta gives. in this case it the rod that gave in. Hope that help

15K for an '03 that doesn't run and was involved in a flood is a horrible ripoff considering you're looking at many thousands of dollars in motor replacement/repair costs.

Why pay good money to buy someone elses problem?

What is the book value of the car? You can buy a short block cheap now a days and for a few more thousand you can have a built short block for under8K and you are ready for boost make sure that this thing didn't really went to a high flood coz you don't want an entire car soaked in water.

I bought mines with 48k miles running in perfect condition for 18k...the 15k price tag is way too high.

Dont buy the car. There are many other cars out there that are NOT damaged. Why would you put yourself into a financial situation you know will put you in deeper with repair costs. Find another vehicle, it is simple as that.

+1, that is not a good deal. If you had plans to build the motor for turbo(s) it would be worth dealing for.
