Please help...stop laughing. moved from tech area
I moved this from the tech area, as no one reads that...
it was a beautiful sunday. had the idea to change the oil in my G35. Everything was going fine until the silver foil sealer thing that appears when you unscrew the top of a new five quart oil container decided to ruin my day. Saw it go right down the funnel into the engine. About the size of a nickel. I tried flushing it out of the drain plug whole with about 10 more quarts of oil, but did not see it again. I really do not want to drop the pan or remove valve cover (never done that) and am wondering what my options are. Any suggestions? any help would be very thankful.
Is pulling the valve cover a big deal, and is there pics anywhere?
by the way....please stop laughing.

I did something similar with a small rubber grommet (don't ask).
My friend who is a master tech at Nissan said that there is a frit that won't allow big things to get into the oil supply. He also said that even if something (like your seal) got into the cams that they would just chew it up and spit it out.
I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just a tiny piece of foil. My dad dropped the paper cap gasket (back when they weren't sealed with foil) from an oil bottle into the motor like that before and the car ran for another 150K miles and was still running when he sold it. If you dropped a nut or a bolt in there, then you should worry.
