SKYLINE taillighting. Correct/Incorrect

In keeping with SKYLINE heritage, how are the dual round tail lights usually illuminated in running and full modes? Currently re-wiring tail and was going to keep just 4 rounds on for driving and full on modes. Leave the squared off parallelogram shaped LED's for brake light only. Any input? Thanks in advance.

Look on the Nissan Japan Skyline company website. They have some flash vids that you can watch with the Skyline coupe running around in the night. There you can see the tail light pattern.
