Lets see the pix & if the quality is anything like duc's CF hood I'm in. Also does it require hood pins or does it close & latch just like the OEM hood?

I'm just curious, but g35 coupe hoods are already aluminum, how much lighter is carbon fiber? Or would this be purely for esthetics?

Re: group buy on CF hood

I tried to deal with the guys over at VIS and their vendors on several occasions a few months back, but no one would budge a penny on their prices. They all wanted around $500 for the hood, plus anywhere from $125 to $150 for shipping, which brought the grand total to well over $600. More than what I wanted to pay. I tried to negotiate a price of $500 with shipping for the hood, but was shot down each time. $550 is not too shabby, but I was able to pick up my hood from GTP for $400 shipped to the guys over at TRT Auto Tech in NY whom are a GTP dealer. I have been working hand in hand with these guys, since we've been using my G as the "test car" for these parts, and GTP has been kind enough to grant us special discounts.

In part with GTP and TRT I'm able to get the Carbon Fiber hood for $400 and the Carbon Fiber trunk Lid for $375. Local pick up is the best as you wont have to pay anything extra for shipping, but if you need the stuff shipped, we can accommodate that request as well. The hood will most definitely have to be truck freighted, while I think we can UPS (over size) the trunk lid. Prices for shipping will vary from $50-$150 depending of shipping method and distance from us here in NYC to you.

Delivery times as of right now can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks from GTP to TRT, depending on what they have in stock and or in production. From there it'll take anywhere from 5 to 10 days from TRT to you.

Quality wise, I have seen both VIS and GTP hoods side by side, and they're both of very high quality in every aspect of carbon fiber construction. They both feature rolled edges, special UV clear coat (so it wont ever fade or dull out), and fully reinforced under side (just like OEM) with no need for hood pins. Fit and finish is also excellent!

This special is ONLY valid till the end of January 2004. Prices will go up afterwards, so if anyone wants a hood or trunk lid or both, get your orders in now and lock in these prices! These two items will set you back over $1300 next month, but if you order now, you'll only pay $775!

It's a GREAT deal so don't pass it up! For more info and or to order a hood or trunk lid, drop me a PM. Payment can be made via PayPal, USPS Money Order, and or Cash (for local pick up).

NOTE: I have no affiliation with either GTP or TRT other than a customer to business relationship. I don't see a penny from any of these sales, so the prices you see are from them to you. The only thing I have done is negotiated a special one time discount for you all on this forum.

Re: group buy on CF hood

The stock G35 coupe hood weighs approx 23lbs and the GTP Carbon Fiber hood weighed in at roughly 13lbs. Savings of 10lbs.

The stock G35 coupes trunk lid weighs approx 21.5lbs and the GTP Carbon Fiber trunk lid weighed in at roughly 11lbs. Savings of 10.5lbs.

Together, you can shave off 20.5lbs off your G35 coupe's weight, which is a very respectable figure.

General rule of thumb for most Carbon Fiber body type components vs those out of aluminum, usually the Carbon Fiber units weigh in at half if not less that their counter part, and signifcantly less if its a steel item.

Re: group buy on CF hood

Who makes this $300 hood? How can we get them? I would be willing to pick another up for a friend of mine with a G. Do you have any pics? What about construction and structure? Fit and finish? Rolled edges? UV protection? Reinforced underside like OEM? Do you need hood pins? Shipping charges?

More info would be great.

Re: group buy on CF hood

i said that i can get the hoods at that price ( acutally a lil less depending on which one) i would be willing to sell them to you guy for like 360 which i think is a fair price for my time. just pm me. local pickup in so cal only. no shipping so that there is no chance for a scam or dammages ( i hate UPS they break everything) i can get the GTP cwings one or the Extreme Dimensions/ Carbon Creations one. Both are Good hoods. i haven't seen the vis one yet since i dont deal with them but i hear their hoods are good also. main difference between the cwings one and the carbon creations one is the weight and sturdiness. c-wings is lighter by maybe 1-2 lbs. has rolled edges, made in china, uv protection fits great glossy finish, oem undersides but is more flimsy of the two. i think ducati guy can attest to this. the carbon creations one is heavier has rolled edges but made in usa has uv protection fits great oem undersides , the more sturdy of the two. if you want pics of the gtp hood you can look at ducatiguys car or
