As an old Russian saying goes, a real smartass can break a dick. That's what happened to me yesterday. Not literally, but figuratively speaking. I was driving through
. The road was still wet after the rain, VDC was on. Going through the apex of the exit curve I instinctively opened the throttle a little. Immediately after that all four wheels started to loose the traction and I began to slide outside of the curve. A moment later the rear end got loose. I did not get a chance to look at the dashboard to see if VDC has really kicked in, I was concentrating on keeping the car in its lane. There were no cars around me within a 50 yard range.

Nobody suffered any damage except maybe my pants that were chewed up badly with a pucker

The lesson I learned is that VDC is not a replacement for common sense. I will never do that again.

Drive safe!

Yeah, I've had a similar experiance at the end of an on ramp. I came in too fast for the rainy conditions and forced it through at the end of the on ramp and completely lost the back end. Needless to say I've never done that again.
