xm direct tuner for $69.99

Why can;t I use the XM Direct tuner for $69.99? just curious as to what the difference is, besides $139.99...

The OEM tuner uses different connectors. If you're handy with electronics, you may be able to get it to work, but I would opt for the OEM tuner. It's just a metal box that sits buried in the trunk.

Easiest way to tell if you have SAT, is to see if you have one of these antennaes on your roof

Well yes, sometimes, but that's not always the case. I didn’t mount my antenna to the roof, it looks horrible.

I have XM radio installed. I bought the kit from EverythingG35 which included the tuner, mini antenna, and mounting hardware. The tuner installs in the trunk on top of the Bose amp bracket and is out of sight. I installed the antenna in the center of the rear deck shelf between the speaker grilles.

Go for the factory kit. It works seamlessly with your system and you won’t have any pieces of hardware laying around in the cabin.

Just to clarify-

U don't need to remove the headunit and actually run the wire from the headunit to the tuner? This is one of the reasons i hadn't got an XM unit for my G yet...i hate Bose headunits and the PITA that they are. If the wire from the headunit to the trunk is already run then install should be really easy.

All 04 and later coupes and sedans are prewired with the SAT cable running to the trunk. There is no need to remove the HU.

BTW, the Bose HU and the non-Bose come out the same, so it wouldn't be any better with the non-Bose.

One sure way........!

One sure way to tell if you have satellite radio is the monthly bill......daah
what's this bill for? HAHA Plus if you had one it would have had be
activated......that's when you start being billed. I tried two diffrent
satellite radios for my garage and neither would work.....gave up that idea!

sat radio for the home is fine. Just have to have that antenna outside somewhere. XM tunes in the garage, house, and office. just use the XM Roady to move around to the locations...makes it nice. Thanks to all the replies on the post. I will go with the oem install. $200 is a bit pricey for the kit, but I miss the sat. radio, flipping commericals just tick me off now when I'm in a car with just a radio...
