I was in the same boat and went with 5AT only because I am in 45-60min of NJ traffic every morning and afternoon so I don't regret it. I think MM on the 5AT is pretty good especially compared to other cars, even my buddy with a new Acura TL who drives my car told me its much better then his.

^ I have an 03 6MT and I have had none of those problems. Original tranny and original clutch with 72,000 miles. Driver side door lock replaced once.

To the op: GO MANUAL!!!

MT and AT are about equal in the 1/4 mile but try going from 60 to 120 and see if its still neck and neck... the gearing will help the MT pull away... If you really have to ask this Question, u'll probably be happier with an MT

1 - your personal preference...and based on the arguments you posed in your first post - you've already sold yourself on the AT.

2 - What are your modding plans - if any? For FI - the AT is the way to go for 1/4 mile traction and overall ET speed.

3 - It's your choice - not what we all think - just like exhaust - buy what suites you best - for all the reasons you already listed.

IMO 6MT is the only way to go, i live in Los Angelus county too and even though traffic is bad i and you can still manage the 6MT. Shifting IMO is soo must fun compared to an automatic.

My other car is a 5speed manual too with a 4banger behind it, still love it. Like someone else said, test drive both and then decide, hopefully you're already comfortable with a manual trans.

MT cars are more fun. I had the 07 sedan loaner and was bored out of my mind. Not as fun to drive as a 6mt. And the Manual mode? It's a freaking joke.

The people who are complaining about traffic and "problems" with a MT, usually can't drive the MT to begin with. So, arguing which one to get or which is better, all depends on ur preferences.

If you can't drive the MT, get the AT.

AT belongs on SUV's, Vans, and etc....

Look at all the big rigs, UPS, FEDEX trucks that are out there. Why are they using manual transmission? I guarantee they fight with more traffic in a day then you do in a week. It's manual because it keeps the driver sane, its more reliable, better gas mileage and cheaper to replace.

Drive the shlt out of ur 6mt, ur tranny will still be good. Do the same to an AT, you're done in a couple of months.

Trust me get the 6MT FTW...you will be bored and not as engaged in the overall driving experience. I made the same mistake when I bought my TSX, I just wanted one and I thought I liked the convenience of it compared to my SI, but I miss is and thats why I'm buying a 05+ g35c 6MT.

All I have to say about this is that I have never once purchased a car with an AT if it has been offered with an MT. I have lived in LA, SF (and the hills are definitely a challenge), and in NYC, and I have never regretted my decision once.

My G35x is my 8th brand new vehicle and I have only owned two ATs (the G35x and a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder) neither of which is offered with an MT.

That said, as I approach 40, I would probably take a dual-clutch box over an MT, if it was offered.

Test drive for sure. I have an '05 MT and I am definitely not happy with it - coming from an Acura MT, the G35 just doesn't compare, I'd rather have an AT.
