G35 Coupe vs sedan.

Hi i'm a newbie.

I have to decide between a coupe and seden relatively soon.

Here's my question:

Is it possible that the sedan is faster than the coupe?
I read somewhere that the sedan does 0-60 in 5.7 secs,
and i read elsewhere that the Coupe does is in 6.0 secs?

Is this possible?

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

It's possible. The coupe has 20 more claimed horsepower but it's also heavier, so in theory the sedan would have pretty much the same performance. Of course, I've read in Car & Driver that the 6MT coupe has a 5.5sec 0-60, so I guess different places get different results.

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

Well, if you want to go by magazine times, then take a look at the Car and Driver comparison test.

They got the coupe to run 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.

I don't believe that ANY magazine has reported a time that quick for a sedan.

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

So far, most reasonably trustworth data shows the cars perform about the same, given the same transmission. Good drivers usually get slightly better times with the 6MT, but the 5AT is plenty fast as well.

If you are trying to decide which model to get based on which is faster, you aren't going to be very successful. Basing the decision on looks, passenger ergonomics, utility needs, sporty appearance, or simply personal preference is probably a better way to go.

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

good point shader.

I will not be basing my decision on acceleration or top speed.
But it will sway my dicision to know that the sedan is that fast.

Also if i did opt for the coupe, it would be rather discouraging to find out that a sedan would be faster.

With all that to the side, i should concentrate on practicality. After all, i live in canada and i will have to use this car all year round, this includes canada's notrious cold and snowy winters.

Does anybody know which car would withstand the winter elements better? the sedan or the coupe.

FYI: If i chose a sedan it would be RWD just like the coupe.

Thanks for your time

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

Both are obviously RWD, but the coupe (6 speed) will come with tires intended strictly for performance use (not winter weather).

If you're really concerned with winter driving, just bite the bullet and get the AWD sedan. Or a FWD car.

Or maybe a winter beater or 4x4 for the winter.

Actually the dealership is throwing in some expensive winter tires for free.

g coupe and sedan are the same cars, same performance but each is based on diffrent needs. don't base it on which one gets to 60 mph .01 sec faster than the other, thats kinda pointless. but good luck to ya.

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

The G35x wouldn't be a bad choice, but I'd drive one and see how you like the handling before you bite the bullet. The only thing the sedan has over the coupe is undeniably more practicality, but a lot of people think the coupe looks sexier. Performance with comparable trannies is just that: comparable.

So, comes down to your preference-- good luck with your decision!

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

Actually I have heard that people with the stock 17"s have had no problems with winter weather....I on the other hand went with the 18"s then had to dish out 1700 for some blizzaks and new rims. But if your going to be getting some for free then there other things to look at. My coupe performs wonderfully with my LM-22's. Im talking steep hills in wet snow and hard ice.

I personally was in love with the Sedan months before it came out, and if it wasn't for college and the promise of a downpayment and co-sign after graduation i probaly would own one right now.

But then i saw the coupe concept and was head over heels.
Im 23 years old, kids aren't in my near future, all my friends have cars, I have a girlfriend but still enjoy the female attention my cars look gives me(so looking forward to the spring). Basically what im saying is the coupe was a practical choice as well as a superficial one...best of both worlds

Re: G35 Coupe vs sedan.

Both RWD cars stink in the snow compared to FWD, and certainly compared to the AWD G35X. If I lived anywhere near Canada, I'd get the X for sure.

G34 coupe vs sedan

Thread might be closed now but here's my 2 cents. I had a g35 sedan for a year. Loved that car. Fast, amazing handling, can take turns going fast. And a decent amount of trunk space and awesome back seats. Now I have a coupe. I'm in love. The back seat is still big enough to have your friends ride with you without being too uncomfortable. The trunk space is practically non existent, but that what you get with a coupe. Either way you can't go wrong. Depends on if you want more room or not. My coupe feels just as fast as my sedan did. I did an exhaust delete on my sedan, but my coupe has stock exhaust and it still sounds mean. Love the coupe and sedan.
