I am the proud new owner of a 05 G35 6MT. The only problem I am having is the car only came with one key. It is an aftermarket key. The dealership i got the car from is paying for the new Infiniti key.

I had a key made and they gave me the car back running with the key in it and i drove it home. The next morning I tried to start the car and it would not start. The aftermarket key still worked. I was told when having a new key made that all the old keys had to be reprogrammed.

So I go back to Infiniti and they try to program the key again and no luck. Then they say its because the aftermarket key is messing up the program of the factory key. So I buy another Infiniti key and it still didnt work.

Now they are trying to tell me that the aftermarket alarm could be the cause. I dont see how it would be the cause. The old key works fine and the car doesnt have autostart.

Has anyone else had this problem?

 

I dunno about the aftermarket alarm, BUT if the dealership didn't know the code programmed into your key, they do have to reprogram BOTH keys. I bought my G with only one key and thats what they told me, if I'm not mistaken they also hooked up my car to a computer to program it for the new key as well.

 

They did hook my car up to a computer. But the new key wouldnt stay programmed. Im going back today. Wish me luck!

 

Turns out the first key they made me was a defect. They programmed another factory key and it works fine.
