my friend's 06 6mt G and my other friend's 06 6mt Z get around 400miles in a full tank
and my 5at gets 280.... is it b/c of the year models or transmission types?!
just want to make sure, cuz if its the fuel injector/o2 sensor or engine problem, i want to get this fixed asap, my warranty is running out

i recently replaced back my stock cai cuz the mpg problem, i used to use injen cai and gets the same mpg.
also, i have bigger rims on as you can see from my sig.
so is it the bigger and wider rims cause low mpg?

I'm usually between 22.1 and 23.7 MPG combined according to my NAV. Lowest I ever got from a tank since owning the car(excluding the first 1000 Miles of engine break-in) was like just under 21 MPG... and that one time that I got under 21 MPG was last week when I was revving my car a whole bunch while in neutral because I was doing a coolant flush and ran 3 passes of fresh distilled water through the system(each time you do this, you have to warm the car up to top temperature and rev it quite a few times to work air out of the system)... so that dropped my average economy on that tank a lot.
In the past week, I just changed my differential fluid, tranny fluid, coolant, switched back from the K&N filter to my Amsoil EA-Nanofiber air-filter(doing tests on intake-element efficiency), did an oil and filter change, and put on 4 new tires(upgraded to 245 width in the front)... so I'm kinda curious to see how much of a drop I get in economy with all those factors being coupled together... mainly from the tires, which will more than offset any potentially minor gains I'd get from changing to synthetic oil in the diff.
I actually bought a ScanGauge II and it just got delivered today.. so I'm going to try to see how the intake temps affect fuel economy on our cars. Something weird I noticed about our speedometers today while playing with the scangauge, is that our speedos don't seem to be that accurate at certain speeds. It seems like they are fairly accurate at higher speeds like on the highway, but they get skewed by like up to 3 or 4 MPH at lower speeds. From what I noticed, it looked like the speedometer was generally reading faster than the true speed by as much as 3-5 MPH at speeds below 25 MPH... but it was pretty accurate at speeds above 30-35 MPH(I've only tested this at speeds up to 80 MPH so far).

i had gotton 18.4 mpg on my 1st tank and 19.1 on my 2nd. the way i check it is by topping off my tank and then reseting my trip meter to 0.0. when i pump again i just check how much gas i put in and the take the amnt of miles that i have driven and devide it through the gallons that went in.
