120MPH in a 65MPH Zone

Re: 120MPH in a 65MPH Zone
Well I was going 40 something in a 25 and got pulled over and the cop said if i was going 50 or more it would have been a federal offense because it would have been doubling the speed limit. Plus a friend of mine who went 65 in a 25 got a gun pulled on him. He also didn't stop for the cop until he got in the driveway, but that doesn't matter right
But thanks for the info Hitman. Whenever I want the most obnoxious, scarcastic response I'll make sure I ask you.

To my knowledge, excessive speeding can only be a felony if you are a commercial driver. There was some federal act that went in place around 1993 that covered it.

Lighten up there, Francis..... my response was far from obnoxious or sarcastic.
But if you prefer, I can surely answer any of your future questions in that matter.

Re: 120MPH in a 65MPH Zone
I am from canada so can somebody please explain to me why you go to jail when you drive past 85 mph in a 60 zone in some states...or is it every states???
My friend had to go to jail for the night because he was doing 125mph (we had another car), the cop got him from behind with his saab 9-3 but he never got me and my benz.
This was in albany NY, I didn't know they where using camaros as police cars over there!
Now because he didn't show up for his court date he can't go to the US for 5 years.

Re: 120MPH in a 65MPH Zone
Alright, NYS residents will not get points assessed from NJ. NY doesn't recognize the points (you are lucky cuz in reverse NJ does asses points, though only two no matter what you did). NJ does not have the ability to revoke your license, although they can revoke your ability to drive in NJ for a period of time. As far as the fines go, hope your pockets are deep, I got nailed for 85 in a 55 and littering and it totalled just over $300. 85 in a 55 in Mass is $275 itself tho so it could be worse. As far as a lawyer goes, not really worth it if you ask me. Your license is not in jeopardy, no points are at stake, just fines, which suck, but if you are nice and respectable you can probably plea those down anyway.
Either way, dress nice, say sir alot and see if the prosecutor will plea you down some. Often they will reduce or eliminate some of them. Least they did for me (the 85 was dropped to 69 without me even asking, he just offered).
Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

Hey Murray123
Tough as it may sound, the best thing that could happen is you should have your license suspended for a year or two till you grow up - I think the judge / cop would be doing you and your family a favour - this kind of behaviour is stupid and irresponsible - Think of the remorse you are feeling now because its going to hit you in the pocket - imagine if your stupidity had of actually hurt or killed someone.

In any case, any of us really only have three options:
1. Obey the laws or pay the penalty when you get caught.
2. Work to change the system.
3. Move to a state or country more to your liking.
Well put Shader.
Dragon you should move to Japan or Germany if the US sucks so much.
