the haters

I parked my car on st last night rite infront of my apartment, today when i got back to the car. i noticed my passenger side rear view mirror hanging. so my guess is that someone kicked it or hit it purposely
anyway the whole mirror isn't broken, only the plastic piece that holds the mirror is broken..( the peice where the screws go under the mirror) not much damage but you have to buy the whole mirror and socket to hold it for 500 + labor.......

right now i have duct tape around it.(it looks fugly with the duct tape).but i was thinkin about super glueing it if i can't find that piece.

any suggestions?

if i am goin to replace side view mirrors i was thinkin of gettin the top secret ones...

any feedback would be apprecaited

thanks again

Re: F#ck the haters

sorry to hear some low life had nothing better to do than to inflict damage to some innocent individual as yourself.....I wonder what is happening to society as a whole...I was just talking about vandalism on another thread today regarding people having their clear corners ripped off or other damage for no apparent reason....Jealous people just plain S*ck!!!
anyway....sorry once again...I can't believe that its $500 to replace the stock mirror....I would go for another type of set up and it probably would be the same or maybe cheaper for the pair...20ld4this

That totally sucks, man. To "ease" your pain, one of my friends has a 2000 Audi S4 and he had a lot of work done to it. He lives in a really affluent area. Anywhoo, this past weekend, some @$$holes jacked his car and stripped it down....about a mile down from where he lives!

How f#cked up is that?!?

Still, I'm sorry to hear what happened to you...hope things work out for ya.

Re: the haters

Try some epoxy that works on plastic. You can buy it at any autoparts store. Sorry to hear about your mirror. Some people are just too lazy to work for the finer things in life. The G is not an exotic by any means but it's pretty kick A$$.

Re: the haters

Sorry. Had my share of that. I don't know exactly what part of your mirror go jacked. But if it is still one solid piece, you may be able to access it from the inner part of the car. This should be covered by some trim. There should be some screws hidden by the trim that holds your mirror in place. If those holes are compromised, you may have to use innovation and use some type of attachment that would compensate for the damaged holes. Once you do this the mirror should be firmly repaired. The trim should hide your repair work. I am offerring this advice without having the time to actually look at my car since we are seperated by 70miles. I did this on another car that had similiar damage and I think it may work for you.

Re: the haters

kindbud7, I can relate to your experience too. Since I bought my Coupe in May, I had some idiot totally smash in my rear bumper behind the driver side rear wheel and somehow scraped the side of the rear spoiler. It happened in a parking lot so I never saw it and, of course, the person split without accepting any responsibility. That cost me my $500 deductable.

Then, in another parking lot a few weeks later, some jerk opened up what appears to have been a truck door so hard that it put a deep ding in the body line and left a big scratch through the mid section of my passenger side door. The dent removal guy said it looked intentional because of the severity of the damage. Btw, he did a near-perfect job in removing the dent, just a slight orange-peal texture in the doorline.

You are right - some people are jealous of what we have and they feel better about themselves by destroying our hard earned property. Pathetic, really.

Re: the haters

How do you know it just wasn't some idiot in a car or on a bike that inadvertently hit the mirror ?

Re: the haters

There really are too many haters...Last weekend on my drive to long beach, someone threw something at my car when i was on the freeway! I had no idea who it was or what was thrown. All i know is that it caused damage to my car. It hit that plastic thing (clear plastic like a clear bra) on the paint in between the rear fender and the door. I don't even know if its fixable. It's sorta like a scrape
