Driving/fog lights kit question...

Anyone have any info on this light kit? What does it include? How much $? Easy install into existing light controls or does it include a separate switch, etc? It is sold on the japanparts.com website under the lights/bulbs link for the G. There isn't very much info on the site about the kit. -coupefan

Well, japanparts.com does list the price -

$1,700.

Wow, close to two thousand dollars for fog lights. Most people say no....

Re: Driving/fog lights kit question...

yeah, I'd be all over that Fog Light Kit if it didn't cost more than set of new kidneys.

=(

maybe you can try buying just the plastic molding and hooking up a set of PIAA fogs to it. maybe someone could even buy it and make replicas for all of us.
now there's a good idea....

=)

Re: Driving/fog lights kit question...

I looked into to this once upon a time.... First it cost sooo much. Second that price is w/o the pro-installation it might take to install. I say might because it comes with everything you need and takes over the function of your fog lights now. When you turn on your fogs you get dual HIDs. Making Fog/High lights High beam only!
One question I never got answered was: what they do with the grill piece that molded to our bumper? That has to come out for the HID's to fit. I think its a factory only option, even those Japan Parts does carry them.

I would go after market and install a cheaper Projection or HID behind the grill piece and save yourself some money.... Its up to you!

I'm going to contact japanparts.com to try to get all the info. I would have expected that kit to be no more than $300-$350. $1700 is crazy.

Re: Driving/fog lights kit question...

Remember that is an HID fog lamp kit, meaning you get two HID Bulbs, two ignitors, two ballasts, in addition to the two lamp housings, two mounting pieces, and wire harness.

An aftermarket HID fog lamp system will normally cost around 1000 bucks, like this one over here:
http://store.racinglab.com/rayhidtyp200.html

Keying in the fact that this unit is OEM, and imported from Japan, the 1700 price tag becomes more believable, although still quite expensive.

I've personally had a shitload of bad luck not being able to see enough potholes at night while driving on poorly-lit roads. If you call these guys up and get some money shaved off, let me know. Either way, I'm buying these things sooner or later.

Thanks for the info silliefOOl. $1700 is still hard to swallow. I'll try to barter some and see if they are open to it. Here's another pic with the install...

Re: Driving/fog lights kit question...

See if you can get to to just sell us the mounting bits. the best part of that kit is the molded plastic that covers the opening.

we can figure out which aftermarket fog light kit to slap on there afterwards

Japanparts won't sell these separate. This might be old news.
