2004 Coupe Headlights Fogging

There is a TSB on this but I've asked 2 dealerships about my headlights and they say mine are normal. So how do you tell if they are 'foggy' or not inside? Has anyone gotten theirs replaced for free?

Try 3M plastic polisher. Good stuff, it will look new again.

It depends on the amount of moisture on the inside. Basically light fogging is normal. Water droplets is not. Ask the dealer to show you the bulliten & it has picture examples.

If you can't find 3M plastic polish, I use Mother's Prewax Cleaner which will also remove the "foggy" appearance. I then follow up will some Mother's Sealer Glaze and/or wax the headlights. My headlights need to be polished like this every few months now. But then I am picky and they do still look like new. Get on those headlights now because if you let them deteriate too far then they get harder to bring back to like new or....it won't be possible at all.

I always wax mine with Meguiars NXT Tech wax... the **** works wonders and I have no fogging on them on my '04.

hey, if you can't fix them, then they make a good excuse for buying 06 projectors.

Anyone ever use this? http://www.mdwholesale.com/

I was going to get it myself but the headlight recall came out and I got them replaced.

One of the many things that I read that made this product appealing, besides the guarantee was this claim from their website:

We don't use cheap abrasives, polishes, and/or dry sandpaper like our competitors. These will actually harm and weaken your headlights (and they are a very temporary solution - lasts a maximum of 2 weeks - that is why there is no guarantee by them and no patent - we stand by our headlight cleaner, repair and restoration kit and our results! Permanently clean and restore those cloudy headlight lenses!

You guys are talking about polishing the outside of the headlight, but isn't it the inside that's getting moisture and creating the foggy appearance? It seems like waxing the outside would make the plastic more shiny but not fix the foggy appearance. Am I missing something?

None of us are discussing a method to cure fogging from the inside of the light. But I am betting that anyone responding has had the same experiences as me since I have given this advice to many people and friends. The "foggy" appearance that most people have and don't know what it is usually comes from the exterior of the lights platic deteriating. The older the car is the more likely this is what the person is actually experiencing. I know for a fact Mother's products are extremely reasonable in price and I am sure the 3M is not much more...so why not give them a try.

About the '06 projectors, they are cool but I like the older style with the working side light strip better personally And dude, I am way too frugal to spend the kind of money that new headlight assembles cost!

LOL yea. The outside is nice and shiny. I guess it's not fogged. It's just dark on the inside, not white like the newer cars - even though my dads older acura lights are still white. I guess the only solution is new lights. Does anyone have angel eyes?

Ok...I guess I can't answer this question without seeing your lights or I just don't know the answer. "not white like the newer cars..."? There was never any white in the interior of an 04 headlight. They are silver/grayish in the reflector area and under the clear plastic. There is also no traditional lens that you can see, just reflecting surfaces.
