Getting the G serviced

The last couple of times I have been getting my G coup's oil change done at a Nissan dealership. I figured that Nissan have the same car and changing oil and a car wash cant be that much different. It cost me a lot less $$$ also.

Just throwing the idea out there to see what others think.

Good idea . . . A few members have mentioned this in the past and have been doing the same.

Yeah, I do, but that's mainly b/c there's a nissan dealership 15min from my house, and another that's 45 min and the nearest Infiniti is over 2 hours away.

Do you really think the oil they recommend/use for the G35 is different than the Z? I always assumed it was the same....either way, no way i'm driving 2+hrs just for an oil change + $50 in gas + an additional 300mi on my car.

yes they use the same stuff... alot of us down in SoCal go to West Covina Nissan to get our service done because its alot cheaper than going to Infiniti... case in point i got my belts replaced for 80 bucks at West Covina and Tustin Infiniti wanted 160+ for the same crap...

if you know a shop you can have them order the items needed for your service from nissan and they can do it for you also... since my car was being worked on a couple weeks ago i had the shop do my transmission. They ordered the parts from nissan Matic J fluid and did everything for me... yes they really did order it i saw the Nissan truck pull up and i saw the bottles myself... I know the owners so i know they wont fvck me over...

I hope you would pass on the free car wash.

the one in elk grove has a lube place in between the infiniti and nissan dealerships.. the only wierd part was I had to pay more because I had an infiniti, so I wasn't happy to see a Z get an oil change for $5 less..

Does it really matter where you get your oil changed? I never thought it did since you can get Mobil 1 or whatever oil at any lube place. Is there a difference between getting your oil changed at a dealer and at Wal-Mart?

I like going to the dealership cause I get a loaner each time, I'm still under warranty, I get 10% off, and I get a wash. Besides, I almost always make them do some warranty work. A big plus was when they realized I was burning oil, they couldn't blame it on any other place, since I only change my oil there and replaced my engine so as long as my car is under warranty I'll let them do everything. That's my story.

It costs more, but I always try to tip the guy that does the oil change a dollar or two, or buy him a drink or something.

That way when you come in for warranty work, they are extra helpful to you.

Bribes? Hell yeah. Does it work? Hell yeah. Do I feel bad? Hell no.

I used to go the the dealer when my car was in warranty and used to use the loaner all the time. Now that's i have 50K miles, i go to the nissan dealer and it's between my office and home.

Good idea. I haven't had an oil change yet on my 07 but I'll consider going to Nissan instead.

I have my oil changed at the local Infiniti dealer. I take my RP oil and K&N filter in, they change it, document it and charge me $8 for labor. AND I do get the free car wash, as they do an excellent job.
